2015 Buying

We have all been talking about 2015 and our huge Salary Cap war chest and I am very excited to think that we will most likely be signing some big name players. Only trouble I see with this however is all of our own players that will be coming off contract:

- Korobete
- BMM
- Nufoaluma
- Ava
- Sironen
- Sue
- Tedesco
- Woods

These are just the ones I believe we MUST keep. If Patterson turns out to be an absolute gun we would want to keep him for sure.
There has to be at least 1.5 million a year just in all these, maybe more

To be completely honest, I would rather spend our cash keeping and developing our own talent than going out and hoping that a high level player solves all our problems.

I tend to agree...when you look at that list of cattle they make up a pretty good core of players for any team. I suppose it comes down to who is available at the time and what position we need to prop up.

Ava might also be hard to keep as his family is over in NZ. Ill be gutted if we lose Woods...or any of these players really

Then again, apart from Robbie and Blair there wont be any players on big money so we may have enough to accommodate all and still attract new marquee signings

I also think retention is the key. I just hope those players kick on. They all played heaps last year and we had a terrible season.

I think we should be looking at upgrading those players contracts for 2014 with the money we have now that Benji has left. This will mean we can afford to offer them a bit less for 2015, allowing us to make a play at a big signing.

I thought he was already going to Manly in 2015 ???

Rumor with no facts. The last statement made by Woods on the subject was that he had absolutely no intention on leaving the Tigers.

Only obstacle is that clubs like Manly will be offering him huge contracts so Tigers will be forced to match with similar offers.

Unless he becomes a massive injury liability I see no reason to not throw $500k at him

You can't tell me Manly will be able to offer more than us,look at the teams,if Woods goes for more money than Manly must have 2 sets of books.

There is no way in hell Siro is going to leave. His Dad is a club legend, couldn't see it happening. All these rumours of clubs chasing our players will largely be due to up the buying price.

Only ones I'm worried about is Nufoluma and Tedesco. These two are seriously freaks in the making and clubs will be ready to snatch them up.

I think at the time I thought the same about Mitchell Pearce and that he'd never go....money can be a funny thing when used in the same sentence as loyalty!!!

Woods, Korobete and Nufoaluma will probably be worth more than 1.5mil by themselves in a few years.

Essentially, in 2015, Blair will be gone and Woods will take his coin.

Nofoaluma, Tedesco and Koroibete will be sharing the money previously taken up by Benji and everyone else we're still paying who aren't at the club anymore (if there's any of those left)

Mitchell Pearce has never played for a team even remotely associated with the tigers. He played all his junior footy in the north sydney comp, then joined the roosters when he was like 16.

Yeah Vic I knew that and I also knew Mitchell to his credit wanted to make it on his own and not on the coat tail of his famous dad.

I am more saying just because a father played for a team there is no real loyalty expected so therefore the same may apply to the Sironens if the Manly rumour is true and if big dollars are waved their way...I certainly hope they do remain with us as I really think they do have a big future.
