Early in the coverage they panned in on a bunch of storm supporters waving their flags. Looked like a bumper crowd, till they zoomed out. Woeful crowd for a final.

Either way the crowds at this ground from every side continue to make a mockert of the plan to build a new stadium. Laughable idea really

Crowds in Round 1 of the NRL finals have traditionally been shit for years now in Sydney regardless of the teams playing.

We only got I think it was 22K from memory at ANZ in Round 1 of the finals in 2013 against the Storm so tonite isn't that tragic.

Yeah imo thats a big problem, the two top4 matches just seem to have no meaning. Which extends to the regular season in that the minor premiers gets ni significance, its all about finishing top 8 then top 4 but 1st gets no respect or reward

A - fans know their team will be there next week.
B - Roosters have no fans.

Solution:
Make every finals match a sudden death (the advantage of finishing high being a R1 week off)
Roosters get off their ass and be relevant...

For comparison the Waratahs pulled 26K for their opening finals game. Considering they have a whole state behind them, this crowd isn't terrible.

The real judge of the NRL lowering their ticket prices will be the next three games, not Melbourne vs the team with the least fans in the NRL.

They havent learned their lesson yet. One off specials for games isnt going to improve crowds generally. Fans have copped extortionate matchday prices for years so only a long term game wide solution for lower prices will improve crowds

Waratahs aren't a good base to use really, their crowds are pretty bad.

Affordability isn't an excuse this year, the roosters just don't have that many fans willing to go to games.
