Cowbs at 13189.

Looks about roughly 1k a year rise since the big push on memberships 3-4 years ago. Would like to see us hit the 20kmmark eventually.

If they make the GF and perhaps win the big one, i could see that happening sooner rather than later

Would a nrl lottery for members entice people to sign up? NRL could run it, all full ticketed members go into a free draw for a $10k prize every month and a $100k draw on gf week. Could help boost ticketed memberships? $250k investment by nrl.

The NRL seem to have cooled off memberships some what.

And I'm admittedly starting to change my tune too, they haven't had an affect on crowds, none of us actually know what they're doing for clubs bottom line and I can't say I've noticed a whole lot of improvement around fan engagement.

Memberships obviously have a big place in our game and always will but I'm starting to think we (as a game) have put way too large of a focus on them. I feel there's a lot of funds & resources that could be diverted elsewhere to address more pressing issues whilst still allowing clubs to run an effective membership department.

Has anyone got a spreadsheet (or similar) showing membership numbers for any or all clubs over the past 5-10 years? I am particularly interested in Saints member numbers, but want to try to do a comparison with all clubs if at all possible.

here is the document that I've been storing data for the past few years. View attachment members.xls

it appears that we have gone passed last years end of season membership total but things have cooled off significantly compared to a few years ago.

Thought it would be interesting to compare each clubs Membership numbers to their Home Crowd average.

Would also like to point our there are 9 teams with worse home crowds than the Chooks, of which 5 are Sydney teams. Another myth busted.

Take out ANZAC Day and the Roosters home crowds are a very sad tale.

So it wasn't a roosters home game? So can we also remove all other Anzac day and Good froday crowds from the averages. Ridiculous! For the record that crowd was at least half Roosters.

Last year we averaged only slightly less even without the ANZAC crowd and there were still 4 Sydney teams with lesser home crowds. Saints finished higher last year obviously for the same reason.

Even if u remove 18000 from our total to account for Anzac day bump we still finish higher than the other Syd teams below us.

Anyway point of my post was to show membership vs crowds.

Wouldn't removing big event crowds affect the crowd figures of all sides that host them?

The dogs average would drop by a couple thousand if you removed their special event games, so I'm not sure what your point is.

Correct - and it happens every second year. Bulldogs and Souths always average 15-16k one year, and swap to 20-21k the next as a result of hosting the Good Friday fixture.

The Roosters' average on the other hand, drops away to 12 or 13k when they're not hosting ANZAC Day, doesn't it?

Either way I can only see one decent average over the last while from the Roosters, 19k in the premiership year.

Not true. We averaged over 14000 last year without the Anzac game. We also cop the most flak for lack of crowds and members yet we are consistently in the top 7 or 8 on both counts. We consistently outdo 3-4 Sydney teams despite having much smaller geographical area etc. even souffs with their 35000 members only average about 1300 more than us. At least our member numbers reflect our crowds. Strange that souffs have 20000 members that don't show up at games. I can accept that they have interstate memberships etc but surely they aren't the only club that would get a bump in their member numbers from this. The stats I posted above comparing members to crowds shows souffs ratio is so far off the average compared to all others. Makes no sense.
