I suspect they held back processing memberships last year till the membership competition period began. Am I just being cynical?

Roosters 5,619.

I'll make the call now...I don't think we'll beat last year's total and that'll be the first time since serious records have been kept.

Hope I'm wrong.

Some of your fans aren't that loyal. It's a poor effort from some so far.

Souths have around the 16 000 mark and building. Souths are aiming for 35 000 which I think we will reach.

We've had consecutive growth since 2007 and there has been some really ordinary years in there so I don't know about questioning the loyalty.

Some weird sort of apathy has come across the fan base since we won the comp. Just bizarre.

Anyway, hope I'm wrong.

Bragging as a Rabbitohs fan that you're gonna get more members than other clubs is like winning lotto and bragging to poor people about your money.

Of course you're gonna have more members, you're the biggest club around and you won the comp this year.

Wow ,
if a Souths fan bragged about having the most popular club just two or three years ago , it would have been LOL@ Souths from most of the folks on this forum , including you.

Souths are not the BIGGEST club. We do not have a Leagues club to support.

Souths can now start to claim they are the most POPULAR club and not fear the LOL@Souths comments and this is supported by number of members and also media hype/interest . We can boast about this now , because it is IN EVERYONE's FACE as shown by the interest with Souths 21st premiership.

Worth boasting about , Oh YES .

No guarantee that the Membership numbers will continue , as folks can continue to support Souths , however not always guaranteed they will reach into their pockets to renew their membership.

Membership drive is a yearly commitment with NO guarantee. Roosters won the premiership in 2013 , how much did their membership grow?

Wouldn't even say we're the most popular club tbh. I'd just say we've got the most fans that are willing to commit.

Nothing wrong with bragging about membership numbers, it's just another thing we can be competitive about in rugby league. Hoping every other team's membership numbers double from last year, we need as many people as possible.

Our membership grew from 13,954 in 2013 to 17,044 so a bit over 20% which is decent.
