With props sam Anderson and Jeremy latimore off contract u would think that one of them would get a new contract or maybe even both. Depends if we are planning to sign a new front rower ? I think they both deserve a new contract.
Second rowers A Cherrington, M Robinson, N Smith, V Tiakilifi would all be fighting for 1 or maybe 2 spots. I would keep Robinson and Tiakilifi.
Halves/backs Tom humble and Luke capewell would be fighting it out for the same spot for next year or both may not even be needed.
In the backs u have Josh Mansour, Eto Nabuli, Wes Naiqama, George Jennings (I think he will be off contract ?) fighting it out for 2 positions u would think. I cant see us being able to keep Josh, Eto and George which is disappointing cause Eto and George have great potential but are unproven. I hate when players leave the club without seeing them get a decent chance to show what they have got.
Add to that list Kevin Kingston who u would assume wont be given another contract but who knows what will happen there. Also not sure if Daniel Foster is off contract too, he could struggle to stay at the club as he hasn't really found his feet yet.
So I would like to see Anderson, latimore, robinson, tiakilif, Mansour, nabuli, Jennings retained and say goodbye to capewell, cherrington, humble, wes naiqama, Nathan smith and Kingston.
That should still create some openings in 1st grade and nsw cup for some juniors to get some chances and in 2015 we have plenty coming off contract so everyone should be in hot competition for contracts.
Im confident the club is a lot smarter these days with the way these contracts are structured and it should allow us to be strong on the field every season.

Of the players you mention:

Definitely retain: Robinson, Latimore, Jennings
Not sure because haven't seen enough but they have admirers: VTK, Nabuli, Anderson, Cherrington
Take or leave: Mansour
No: Smith, Kingston (I don't mind him being depth, actually, but it appears that if he stays, he plays, so better to get rid), Wes, Humble
Never seen him play (I think): Capewell, Foster

I can't see many recruits if any coming in.

Going: Kingston, Grant, McKendry. Humble, Capewell. Roberts (On the years cap), Nathan Smith. Wes.

Not sure: Mansour, Robinson. Cherrington, VTK

You would expect DWZ, Blake, Moseley etc to join the squad.

Given your going's and not sure's there is clearly room to bring in some fresh faces. Given some of the dollars from releasing Grant and a few others I would expect Gould to bring in a few quality players.

We are fine for backs and fullbacks and hookers. We could use a world class half but until one of those is available one elite prop and a damaging second rower and we close the cheque book.

Of those you have said to definately retain I agree, of those you haven't seen enough of, VTK definate prospect if he stays fit, Nabuli has to be given a chance in FG to see if he can match it with the big boys, Anderson is the best of this bunch, not flashy but very strong and almost mistake free, plays like Gallen and another year will see him reach his full potential, Cherrington isn't worth the risk, either gets injured or suspended.I'd keep Kevvy, purely because he can do the hard stuff while Segs does the flashy stuff, Smith,Capewell, Foster no thanks.

Like others have said.
Grant, Mckendry, Kingston, Smith, Cherrington, Humble, Wes, I would expect to go and I think Mansour will go to Souths.
I would like to keep Robinson, Jennings, Eto and Latimore.
Not sure on the rest of off contracted players.

Agreed, You need to bring in 2 or 3 first graders a year to keep the squad fresh.
I think their is a prop coming for next year soon and a possible mid season transfer on the horizon.

it not a case of freeing up cap space .Fringe players like Smith drop out of the first grade squad quota but join second tier .They then can be brought up if ever needed.
Dont be suprised if several spots come up
Grant already gone
McKenry rumoured to be going
Mansour runoured to be going
Plum his body is gone may retire
Simmons close to retiring last year
Smith unlikly to be given new contract unless second tier

there is places for some of the second grade boys to upgrade
