Souths mainly played under 20s and Norths players.

Honestly, why even bother putting an NRL name to these teams.

1. Match fitness - there's a reason the only likely round 1 first graders in that Knights side are Snowden and Leilua (I.e. the fatties the coach said aren't up to fitness).

2. Take a game (and a couple of players they might have actually heard of) to an area that don't see much professional league. Good for the locals and might help the club drum up some new members/support, sell some merch, etc.

I don't take any stock in how a side goes in a trial against an unprofessional side but I thought it was fairly obvious why clubs do it.
