Fantastic effort to draw the game, it's not something we do well is bat for time. But Marsh and Handscomb were excellent.

1-1 after 3 tests is an excellent effort against these pricks at home, win another toss and who knows.

we dont normally get this much interest in an overseas tour, this has been a huge improvement compared to some of our recent tours to the sub continent

Ain't that Shaun Marsh just great - batting to save the test for Australia.
He's actually probably one of our better batters technically for the sub-continent. The issue with him is batting every where else in the world and the selectors constant selecting of him just because he batted out a billion balls to draw a test. And his brother. His brother is definitely his biggest issue

He was only cleaning up his own mess, same as Handscombe.

If those 2 (plus Warner) had made some runs in the first innings then the test match would not have needed saving.

Same diff in the end. If they made runs in 1st then it was even more likely headed to draw

Marsh has generally batted ok for Aust overseas (and he as played in some low-scoring matches). But the punters tend to remember home tests more than away tests (partly coz they don't get to watch as many of them). And probably exacerbated by the fact that his domestic failure tend to be scores < 5.

great news about the women's cricket, about time

Yep, as long as the hours in the nets etc increase with the increased opportunity provided by the very much full-time salary. There should be no question as to whether one is focussing on cricket, or soccer, for example.

So, all you chaps who laughed at me last week when I suggested that Lyon will be the bigger attacking threat (of our two spinners) in the following tests, and accused me of not watching the game and relying on stats....anything to say?
With only one match remaining in the series SOK has 18 wickets at an average of 19.17 and Lyon has 14 wickets at an average of 26.36.

Prior to the current test I wrote (post #918 in this thread) the following after the pitch reports came through:

I'm prepared to alter my prediction for the relative Lyon/SOK threat for this test. The likely low and slow swings things back towards SOK.

Really dunno how Cummins will go, but worth a shot.

You'll also note that I've never said that SOK would be less economical.

I don't think there is a hell of lot between the both of them, but one somehow has got over 200 test wickets and labeled the GOAT. While the other with a far superior FC record has played just 5 tests.

Yeh, but you know that GOAT is a term used by his team mates to give him a ribbing though, don't you? He's not competing against a great pool of Australian right-arm finger spinners.
