2016 Jerseys, Sponsorship, Logos Discussion

That new Kangaroos jersey looks beautiful as a clean strip! My only gripe has always been that the chevron doesn't go over the shoulders.

Also, I know in this day and age that sponsors pay a premium for space but I'd like to see a return to sleeve sponsorship only.

Bang on the mark there, LESStar.
I'd also slightly broaden it to allow the sponsor to have their LITTLE logo just above or just below the KANGAROOS logo on the right-chest.

By the way, I've ordered myself one of these sponsorless Australian jerseys just last night! What you can't see in the pic posted above, is on the lower-back of the jersey, subtly worked into the green is a kangaroo and Southern Cross. It's only a minor thing, but I like it. It's a nice touch.
You can see it when you check out the jersey on the NRL.com shop.

Awesome.

Awesome.

There's a Jillaroos shirt on ebay (too expensive and wouldn't fit me anyway... as much as I'd like one) and its got a map of Australia subtly worked in to it.

The back of that gold training jersey I posted earlier is a little disappointing, but I definitely prefer this training jersey to the one with kangaroos jumping all over the chevrons!

I'll do my best!
All I can tell you at this stage is that I ordered the sponsorless 2016 jersey off the NRL.com online shop and it should get here this week ... hopefully sponsorless!!

When the Australia-NZ test is played here in October, the merchandise stalls will have all the latest gear, no doubt, so if I remember, I'll photograph it and pop it in here ... just for the fun of it if nothing else!

Big improvement. Never understood why they need two crests? If I as getting one is def get it now before they plaster a crappy sponsor on it!

Looking forward to seeing next years World Cup kits.

VIA Careers is gone from the lower half of the Panthers jersey, with Allam Property Group returning.

Notice lots of yellow on the coffee kit yesterday. Interesting.

So it's Voice for Mining Day again this round in Newcastle.

Guess who the Knights are playing on Sunday?

It's a tactic.
If we wear our orange jersey against the only other team who wear orange, they might accidentally pass us the ball, gaining us an advantage.

Up there for thinking.

Really nice kangaroo shirt but way too many chevrons, if they have them on the Australia shield don't have the kangaroos chevron badge opposite it.

The on-field Australian jersey has the proper Coat Of Arms in place of that chevron-shield flanked by the kangaroo and emu. I do agree that the Kangaroos logo is too much based on the double-chevron and does not feature the kangaroo enough (considering it IS the Kangaroos logo!). I personally preferred the previous incarnation of the Kangaroos logo. I thought they were onto the right thing with it (see below).

If they need to keep the double-chevron in the same shaped badge as every other NRL, state, ect, logo is for reasons of brand recognition, I'd suggest they do something like this...

... and that was something that took me less than 5mins to mock up! Think about what a team of designers could do if asked..!
