I seem to remember with their apparent crack down they actually amended the rule so contact isn't required, just a reasonable attempt. Memory could be wrong though.

My memory appears definitely wrong, could not find any mention of that, just that there was meant to be a crackdown.

Haha can't believe I missed that live, was that on De Gois? If so I don't know if that wasn't an inside bit of niggle and getting under each other's skin between them.
He was at Isaac's wedding during the 9's this year, so despite moving on, I'd imagine they maintain contact.
