Do the majority of fans care? Probably not.

Does the club and our sponsors care? Absolutely.

Mate you are having a conversation about the relevance of FTA games for your club with a Bronco's supporter.

Nothing personal against Snappy at all, but of all the supporters, Bronco's supporters would understand the issue least of all.

On the pay tv ratings it's no secret Sharks,Melbourne and Cowboys rate very well so no surprise Sharks v Melbournes a pay tv match.

Read some figures the other day and the Parra v Cowboys was top rater so far this year followed by the 2 Sharks v Cowboys games.
Next I think was Gold Coast V Sharks (Monday nights game which Fox would be doing handstands over the figures)and the Melbourne v Cowboys game rated pretty well too.

Not sure what effect that has on nines decision on what games to broadcast but the ratings on the Newcastle Manly game on Sunday were about the lowest this year for fta.

Don't feel to bad. Channel 9 don't want 1st vs 2nd. Even tho it may well decide the minor premiership. They went Broncos vs Roosters and Bulldogs vs Rabbitohs over Storm vs Sharks in Rd 26. It's just stupid by channel 9
The business of business is business. Channel 9 do not care one iota what the positions on the ladder are, or the importance of games in terms of the finals.. They are interested only in ratings, as Timmah suggests. Non-Sydney sides, apart from the Broncos, do not rate. Some Sydney sides rate better than others. The NRL signs contracts giving them the right to choose the games they want to cover, in return for a few more dollars. So, basically, the NRL doesn't care either, or at least it cares more about revenue.

Is this a joke?

Nope. I thought it was a pretty bit of grub work. Worthy of the charge he was given. If he got a downgrade and due to good behaviour he was able to play this week, no problem, but to come out not guilty as in he did nothing wrong... Na i cant come at that.

Still im not that fussed, im pretty keen to see us get a real test this week and with Maloney in, we're going to get that. Im confident we'll put in a good performance, not sure if that will translate into a win or not, but this is a different team to the one that had its doors blown off earlier in the year

Surely you would think a minor premiership battle in Rd 26 between the Storm and Sharks would rate better then a nothing game like Broncos vs Roosters. I know which game I would rather watch even if I wasn't a storm supporter. But yeah until the NRL decide the schedule instead of broadcasters we will keep getting the same teams on fta every week. 2017 is the last year is it not?

This is going to be a fantastic game of footy. Was tipping the Raiders to knock them off, but at home and with Maloney back in the side, think the Sharkies will just scrape past them.

Match Preview:
Sharks v Raiders preview
Robert Crosby | August 4 2016 5:31PM

Top four rivals face off in match of the round.

While their 15 game winning streak may have come to an end against the Titans, the Sharks will have no shortage of motivation as they fight to secure the minor premiership. Unable to break the deadlock in extra time on Monday, Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan will be need his side to put aside their fatigue in order to account for the flair of the much-improved Raiders. Retaining the same squad that drew 18-all on the Gold Coast, the Sharks face the prospect of being without playmaker James Maloney, after the in-form five-eighth was charged for making dangerous contact in the dying stages of Monday's match. Facing a two-match ban, expect Fa'amanu Brown to come into the side should Maloney miss out. Saturday also marks a special occasion for Valentine Holmes and Matt Prior, who each play their 50th games for the Sharks.

As I said to Skeepe - there are more eyes on the clubs they've chosen. They're proven good raters and have big fanbases.

Also worth noting both the games they have are likely to decide finals spots (for Brisbane and Canterbury)
I disagree. When a team is on top a)their fan base is more interested
b) the public is more interested in a performing team with attacking flare like the Sharks
C) St George are the crappest attacking team in the comp, TV's get turned off
