Judging by todays performance and a couple of good games for the Chooks, Ryan Matterson may well be "the one that got away". I agree with Gus. He does look every inch a footy player. Very impressive.
Sadly we are also paying some of his freight. I know the club had enormous wraps on him two years ago then he went off the radar last season.
Given our current Foran situation, Kelly out for the season and Cornish being overlooked, Ryan would be very handy about now.
Is this a bad call by BA or is there more to his departure from the Mighty Eels?

Kris Keating played for city a few years back too. One good game doesn't make a career.

We did give him a chance and by reports didn't do much in NSW cup. Got to cut your losses at some stage.

I wonder how much we saved by moving him on?
In answer to your coment, I guess time will tell but my word he looked pretty good to me.

Matto is a loss, especially when you are paying him to play elsewhere, a lot of that 2014 U20's side went backwards that next season. I put that down to poor coaching, and the fact that none of them seemed to be in the pecking order stuck behind plodders like Kelly, Morgan and Sef Paulo. Matto would look pretty good in this team with the 14 on his back.

He seems to like going for an intercept instead of manning up - might suggest some defensive issues which alot of nrl coaches wouldnt like

The Roosters in the end seemed to think he was a better defensive option than Jayden Nicorima, but that really isn't saying a lot. It's a bit like saying Ben Roberts is better at game management than the Sandclown...

He's the only player we lost / let go at the end of last season that I wished we'd kept. I said that at the time. And he's already played City Country after just 2 NRL games where he looked pretty good.

Who are you some sort of defensive guru?

Bad play he takes intercept and scores:D

I am starting to think some of the one eye fans have been drinking from the parra river.
