Cartwright is blowing this game apart. SOme performance.

He's certainly playing well. There must be a temptation to play him at 6 on the right side for NSW. His weak defence would be less of an issue at 6 particularly with Beau Scott defending next to him.

If Gutherson is ready for fullback why would we re-sign Gordon? Only if he would accept a backup sized contract.

If he was willing to accept $150k or less, I would happily offer him another one year deal. Still playing decent footy, yeah he lacks the ball playing skills to be a top fullback but he is very safe and makes good metres rucking the ball out. Would easily be in our top 13 as a winger, I can't see any better wing options in the club and it's not like we have a young rookie ready to step up ( French isn't a winger).

Plus he gives us cover at fullback , can kick goals and his experience probably shows big time off the field.

Flash on a minimum deal as a winger and back up fullback wouldn't be the worst option. Especially if we are under cap pressures.

Very sad state of affairs that this was the last (or is it 2nd last) City vs Country. CvC is not part of the new TV deal apparently.

I thoroughly enjoyed this weekend, as I did last year.

I was only aware of rumblings about city v. Country. Never thought this was the last. Have to say though, the pacific island games have left it behind. City county needs to be for something if it's to survive.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine then not having these Pacific Tests. If anything these matches could almost be expanded to more games per season.

The pacific nations should play throughout the year to determine a winner to be included in a 3 or 4 nations against the Aussies, kiwis and poms at the end of the season ...

If they make origin a stand alone you could have an origin game plus 1 or 2 paccifc tests on the same weekend,

Over the course of the 3 soo weekends the eventual winner from the 'pacific cup' would be determined and they go on to be included at the end of year test schedule.

Shame to lose city v country, have always enjoyed and today's game was excellent.

Matt Elliot mentioned on ABC today the Pacific islands should put a combined squad together every few years to play the big 3, similar to what the Lions are in Union. Would be a great idea and be a bloody good side.

As stand alone sides the biggest problem apart from the current stupid eligible rules, is finding spine players to challenge the big 3.

Judging by todays performance and a couple of good games for the Chooks, Ryan Matterson may well be "the one that got away". I agree with Gus. He does look every inch a footy player. Very impressive.
Sadly we are also paying some of his freight. I know the club had enormous wraps on him two years ago then he went off the radar last season.
Given our current Foran situation, Kelly out for the season and Cornish being overlooked, Ryan would be very handy about now.
Is this a bad call by BA or is there more to his departure from the Mighty Eels?
