Nothing has been learned this weekend, the NRL is miles better than Super League and the Rhinos are the biggest club in the world with the best fans.

Quoted for prosperity.

You're one of the biggest shitposters on this forum whenever your blokes get a sniff, then you run away and crawl back in your hole when you get whooped so its nice to see you around.

Well this concept has turned in to a complete embarrassment and they want to play these games in Australia? There would be regular 50 point floggings if that is the case.

Seriously, if the NRL and ESL were amalgamated, ignoring obvious geographical issues, can anyone see the top 10 in that comp being anything other than all NRL teams? In all seriousness, the top 14 would probably be NRL teams, the top 16 if the teams stayed injury free.

I think people need to give the concept a chance... maybe the more games are played super league may raise it's salary cap

Much like the World Cup, there's more important things to these games than winning, at the moment.

It's about growing the game, something we are notoriously poor at partially because arrogant Australians shit on anything that doesn't yield immediate results.

It generates big interest and draws big crowds in England. This is part of the answer of improving Super League.

Oh, and Wigan and Leeds would handle mid-lower NRL teams comfortably. Cowboys and Broncos will embarrass teams a lot worse than that this year.

Not on this year's form.

The thing is it's not like these are dominant teams in Super League, or even rated over here. It's not like a local champion team being exposed when faced with a higher standard of competition. Leeds are currently bottom of the Super League table and got flogged last week by Widnes Vikings. St Helens were stuffed by the side that is tipped to finish bottom, and Wigan's coach hammered them and pretty much said they were garbage even though they won. A majority of Super League teams would've beaten them this weekend, and in fact two of the worst Super League teams ran up bigger scores against them last week than the NRL teams did. It's just bad luck that these three traditionally strong clubs all happened to be in terrible form at the start of the season when this competition was taking place.

Tbh the way Leeds played in the first half they would have beaten a lot of other sides (NRL and SL). They simply couldn't match that intensity for the second half, the first half was a very entertaining, tight contest.
Seems a lot of people just see the result and just dribble shit.

Only Tom Briscoe, Danny McGuire, Beau Faloon, Stevie Ward, Carl Ablett, Jamie Jones Buchanan and Ashton Golding. 5 guys from the starting 13, 1 guy who would probably have a bench spot and one guy who would have been in the 17 if he'd have been fit today. 4 England / ex England international and 2 England U20 internationals on that list too.

No excuse though.

Leeds competed for 40 but couldn't cope when the pace went up. The talent is there in the UK. It's the structures and coaching that isn't sadly

Yeah I don't think Leeds will be looking for excuses - more toward a pretty challenging few weeks in the superleague.

That said, if you take away Cowboys number 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 from last years GF winning team, they'd probably be a different side too.

Pleased for Sutcliffe and Lilley. Hopefully they learnt a lot about playing in the halves.

Pretty much. Both Wigan and Leeds made pretty good accounts of themselves before it blew away. A lot of NRL teams will fold against the Cows and Broncs a lot quicker this year.

Or you pretending f**ks could fly halfway around the world.

And play us in our conditions.

With only playing a trial game against a 2nd division feeder team as your warm up game......

This ridiculous WCC should be f$&@ed off completely and the proper a international Test series at the end of the respective seasons be the focus. WTF did today/this weekend honestly prove? That the OZ teams are still miles ahead of the UK teams?

The UK SL is a mile away from being anywhere the quality of the NRL. This weekend proves it. All of us want to see the game stronger over there but this mickey mouse bullshit comp is not the answer imo.

The only good thing was seeing Tamou sat on his ass for being a clown. Other than that, it was a complete farce of a weekend.

Completely agree. NRL have the ability to pay their playing squad $3M more than any ESL side. Add a Cronk, Burgess and Inglis to that Leeds side and you'd hope to see a more competitive game. But it makes money, which is much needed in the English game

Did i hear the commentator correctly that of the now six matches of the new re-vamped three match series (2015-2016) that at no stage has any superleague team been in the lead of any game at any point??

I don't care if the games were lopsided - I love any game where NRL-based sides (including Kangaroos/Kiwis) travel over there to play against their sides. It never gets old hearing their commentators crying into their beer when they start getting towelled up.

Well as soon as rugby league turns into a game where you can declare at half time, we might have some hope for this shit.

Kill it off. It's a joke.

The teams that head over there inevitably suffer from the travel early in the year.

I cringe when Manly go over as it's a complete waste of time and takes a toll.

Last year the two teams who went over were #1 and #2 in the NRL ladder after round 8.

I'm glad Manly isn't involved. With the club's pre-season 'luck' this year they would have lost another 4 to injury. I don't see the point in it. It doesn't reflect the team that won their respective comps. It isn't after that success. It is pretty well always over there. Play it somewhere neutral and interesting, after the regular season and historic in some way. Burn Martin Offiah's undies and shove it in a urn or something.
