Seriously...rediculous time slot? After Gus carried on like the wanker he is, saying it's the nrl fault that parra and Penrith play once this year and it's the west Sydney derbie? It's played on a clear sunny Saturday arfternoon. Has a population of over 2mil people. The only game they play against each year and they get 15k. Lol, How can you think that's ok? He is clearly trying to shift the heat away from his ordinary team. It's not the Nrls fault Penrith and parra are playing like reserve grade teams. Playing good footy helps brings crowds, ask Canberra. If penrith and parra were sitting on the top of the ladder the stadium would of been packed like the St George v roosters will be. Gus you're a knob head!

What has happened souffs fans, bunch of bandwaggoners. The team isn't even that bad at the moment, compared to other teams rock bottoms'.

7 Thursday/Friday games in a row sure isn't helping memembers attend. Good Friday is included but not really relevant granted.

Excuses excuses. It helps with the broncs crowds. Similar membership numbers. I can accept lowers crowds due to ordinary performances but everyone just uses the nrl as the default reason the blame for everything. It's crap. Does the nrl get the kudos for the Canberra crowds or the sellout st George/roosters game? Come on people, you are all apparently diehard rl fans yet you continually bag the nrl about everything. If News ltd has got to you what help does the rest of Aus have.

It doesn't help Broncos crowds, the Broncos would have far greater memberships and crowds if games were played on Sunday and Saturday.

Not so sure about that. You could argue either way about this. Broncs have had a couple sat games the past years, one against newy with 30k last year and one against parra 34k the year before hardly massive numbers. They have the double header though which they sellout but that's hardly comparable. And the qld reds play sats/suns and don't do massive numbers at all.

Brisbane isn't Sydney comparing the two like for like is stupid. What has Canberra or an ANZAC day match got to do with 7 Souths games on a Thursday/Friday in a row?
If you don't think that has an effect on attendances you've got rocks in your head.

If Souffs played in there own area they'd pull huge crowds on Friday (and even Thursday).

Have you tried going from Maroubra to f**king Olympic Park? It's an ordeal. Don't give me the bullshit about Souffs fans being everywhere, the highest concentration of them is in (you'll never guess...) SOUTH SYDNEY.

As for their business decision of ANZ paying them to play there, it was sound back in the mid-2000s when they were pulling crowds of 150. Now when they have 30k members (lol) it needs to be re-examined. If it's still $100k per game that is easily covered by a modest increase in crowds, I'd be very surprised if they couldn't achieve that with a move.

Also criticism of the Saturday 3pm timeslot is the most embarrassing excuse to not show up to a game in the very many shit Sydney excuses. There literally could not be a more perfect time to play footy.
It's a poor crowd and it justifies the NRL not drawing 2 Parra-Penrith derbies.

You're right, Brisbane isn't Sydney. Sydney is twice as big, twice as many people. What has clearly gone over your head is the impact of teams playing good or bad. If Souths were playing amazing and in form we would be talking about how amazing the crowd figures are and how good the club is. Them having the luxury of playing fta Thursday/Friday and receiving the sponsorship $$ that comes with it over a manly/titans/Newcastle. Cry me a river.

There crowds aren't up to scratch. Simples.

So twice as many people with 8 times as many teams? Your maths seems a little off here.

Neither of those sides draw big crowds in Brisbane. The reds are not in the same stratosphere as the Broncos. There's basically zero opportunity for young families to attend Broncos games. If the Broncos had a few regular Sunday games each year they could sell family memberships and would likely average over 40k.

My old man is a broncos member and happens to sit right beside a family of Bronx members. Have you been to broncs games lately? Kids and families everywhere. Brisbane actual make the effort on Friday's it seems then. And back a few years ago when the reds were playing well the crowds were ok.
I don't think the sat/sun game for the broncs has as much impact as your suggesting. We can agree to disagree.

So every Sydney v Sydney game should be 50k? double the broncs crowds? Well I guess in your perfect little world everyone that lives in Brisbane is a broncs supporter then? I guess myself included?
Don't feel like I'm just having a go at you/souths.... I'm having a go at Sydney rl crowds. Excuse after excuse. 7 Friday/thurs games with shit crowds, a massive west derbie, the only one of the year and 15k turn up. Come on!!! Enough of the excuses.

Any family with kids playing a 12pm game or later would be pushing shit uphill to get to a 3pm Saturday game.

There is a reason this timeslot was dropped many years ago.

The crowds are not going to grow until they make the game more exciting for youngsters.

Kids use to find the fighting exciting and big shoulder charges and otherwise unpredictable play, players making things happen. Those things are gone and we are left with completions, wrestles, fast play the balls, bomb sets, line speed, decoys. The game needs to have a good hard look at itself. I haven't heard a player interviewed all year that didn't say something about "completions" and "getting to our kicks". Have people noticed that you can start on your 15m line, do nothing but hit ups and get a bomb to the corner now? Most sets are like this.

It is garbage entertainment.

every crowd has been pretty meh in reality this round with the exception of the Raiders effort which was pretty good
This afternoon could be a big disappointment too

Tigers fans will not be in a good place atm with most of their stars walking out on the club & Tigers fans may take their frustration out at the turnstile today
Dogs fans to do the hardwork again at ANZ this afternoon & they'll be in the complete opposite moods in terms of optimism about 2018 certainly ... they'll have bucket loads

the 2 games on Tuesday should be the saving grace for the round
