Posted in here and membership discussion for those interested in how memberships relate to crowd attendance.

Bit early and there will be outliers skewing the att figures (partic roosters) but here is how crowds are tracking v memberships. In most cases membership position is pretty accurately reflecting attendance avg position. Highlighted the ones where there is a more than a small discrepancy.
Club Members (home crowd avg) mem pos - avg att pos
Brisbane 34587 (32,701) 1 -1
South Sydney 29510 (12,282) 2- 12
Parramatta 22243 (19,744) 3- 3
Melbourne 19112 (16,604) 4 - 5
Canberra 18175 (15,606) 5 - 6
St George 18117 (12,235) 6- 14
Canterbury 18023 (15,147) 7 - 7
North QLD 17138 (14,922) 8 - 8
Penrith 16496 (13,232) 9 - 10
Wests 16255 (14,152) 10 - 9
NewZealand 15356 (12,088) 11 - 15
Sydney 14750 (22,248) 12 - 2

Cronulla 13551 (12,744) 13 - 13
Newcastle 12982 (16,606) 14 - 4
Manly 12482 (10,582) 15 - 16
Gold Coast 10698 (13,219) 16- 11

Roosters will probably finish the year with a 17-19k average, running 2nd or 3rd among Sydney teams

Well you could say they are doing brilliantly in one area but failing miserably to convert it to bums on seats

Are they really though? Or are they just inflating their numbers

Less than 50% of their so called "members" turn up to games

& you'd think the majority would be in and around Sydney. So what's the go

Ffs they were outdrawn by Manly fans at a home game last week

I seem to remember you couldn't get to games.

Maybe you can enlighten us as to why.

What a pathetic fan. Outdrawn by an etch a sketch. LOL.

Yet in 2016 when the Chooks had a dire season and ran 15th, they had an average of 10235.

Where we you when you were losing?

Apples for apples mate.

And let's not forget, us LOL@Souffses fans inflated your season average for you with your best crowd of 25,125 in Round 1.

Uhh maybe like recovering from shoulder surgery and living 2 hours away from Sydney which makes attending games except for Saturday and Sunday almost impossible lol?

But keep deflecting the argument Souffs inflate their numbers to make them look relevant

I was at the SFS, and various away games.

Breaking news, NRL crowds wildly fluctuate due to form, weather, and well scheduled rivalry matches.

Fair enough on the shoulder.

But you've quite clearly stated
& you'd think the majority would be in and around Sydney. So what's the go

Perhaps, as it has been discussed previously, many of Souths fans actually don't live in Sydney. Perhaps, they too live 'two hours away' like, I dunno...Central Coast, Blue Mountains, South Coast, Newcastle, Canberra etc. Perhaps with the poor performances of the team over the past 18 months, they're exercising their right not to go to a game.

And furthermore, I don't think Souffs have ever said their members are ticket holders. In fact, if there was more NRL transparency from all clubs about who is a member, a full season ticket holder, etc, the arguments could be argued better.

This comment is patently untrue.

I'm only having a go at you because of this one post. I generally agree with a lot of what you say. That you noted we are a pathetic club rankled me.

I hope your shoulder is better and you can start getting to games again. I'll save you a seat next Friday. I'm sure we'll have a few spare.

Pats on the back to you. I'm glad you're very loyal.

And yes, crowds do fluctuate. So whilst you use that as a defence, I shall too.

So the exercise in whinging about memberships / crowds is a total circle jerk.
