The Manly-Penrith game would have drawn a bigger crowd at Penrith, but of course it was Manly's home final. The Sharks match likewise, and it was their home final. The NRL should consider using Penrith, Cronulla and maybe Wollongong/Kogarah in week 1 where it is considered these grounds would draw a better crowd than the bigger joints. Not Brookvale though, it is just a shithole.Crowds are disappointing for finals
I know, lets play them at shittier parks!
the Bunker is just the video ref re packaged
we've had refferals for 20 years now , it aint nothing new.
Poor marketing is a furphy too , if people are true supporters then they don't need to be told whats on or be encouraged to attend. There was an appropriate level of marketing for mine.
As for rivalry .. haha.. please .. who cares who you're playing , its your season on the line
get off your fat lazy arse & get to the game.
Which of the four matches last week was boring. I'd say none.Could it be that the clubs all play the same old boring football?
Manly final should of been on the Central Coast. I really hope that that the new Parra stadium will qualify for week one and two finals as a home ground for the Eels, Tigers and Panthers
It would make 25-30k crowds like the ones the Eels will get this week look fantastic and it would also ensure ANZ doesn't get used until at the earliest week three
The core of this great competition lies in the Sydney metropolitan area. The tyrrany of distance (Australia wide)and sparse population has the game vulnerable when isolated clubs have poor periods. The largest city in the southern hemisphere with the best football code should be respected. Im suggesting that probably ten top flight NRL clubs in the metrpolitan area be maintained with a promotion and relegation set up for the other aspiring Sydney metropolitan clubs. This will entrech the game and interest/relevance in this geographically diverse and highly populated area. A twenty club competition should be happening now however spoilers and people making decisions not in the interest of rugby league development and cultural relevance are thwarting genuine progress of the game.
Sorry to disappoint you Sydney is NOT the largest city in the southern hemisphere its actually #8 behind places like Rio, San Paulo and even Jakarta! Melbourne is #9
You don't set your marketing for the die hards who are already going. You do it for the casuals who have a fringe interest.

Nope. The NRL have already announced the dates, times and venues for the Week 3 Preliminary Finals. The Roosters match it is going to be on Saturday 23 September 2017 at the SFS regardless of whom the opponent is. hmmm
ok
maybe we shouldn't assume people can read either then
, or understand what the word elimination means as it appeared in nearly every piece of advertising associated with the game lol
I agree.we could even play at parra's new stadium if we play like the cowboys or a team like that
Did you reply to the wrong person? I was addressing:
"if people are true supporters then they don't need to be told whats on or be encouraged to attend."
As someone who goes to games I agree but that's not what the marketing should be going for anyways.
. Id say things like game play decision delays(bunker) are having an impact.
You have no idea. Your spoiling comments are clearly getting their way as the game declines. And you smuggly go on seeing the very fragile code of rugby league weaken in development and cultural significance. Shame on you!
That storm game in 2008 was week 3Of the 2 crowds this week, the bigger concern looks to be Brisbane if it does only get 40-44k. They got 50k in week 2 in 2008 and 2009 against Storm and Dragons respectively. Does the fact it is against Penrith really make that big of a difference for their one and only home finals game?
we're being told fans didn't know it was an elimination final
the information was sufficient for any fan , rusted on or casual , that howler was just another attempt at excusing the abject laziness of sydneys NRL fans
