2017 Judiciary & Match Review

FTR love shoulder charges and don't think they should be outlawed.

However I am completely surprised the amount of support in the media (Tallis/Johns) for Lolo and that NQ thought they were a chance of getting him off.

Watch the replay, plain and simple there was no attempt to tackle the bloke. There was no wrapping of the arm, it was a bump where he used the upper part of his body with force to jolt his opponent.

I don't actually see why it has to be so technical.

You can't knock blokes out and not face suspension. Good decision, we have copped enough rubbish ones, only fair for JT to cop an iffy one. Should have taken the week which was ridiculously generous.

2 weeks is fair.

You most definitely can knock someone out and not face suspension.

But not sure how that applies to this tackle, as no one was knocked out.

Also what do you mean by "good decision" then it was an iffy one?? Bit inconsistent.

In my book it is a very good decision, there is nothing wrong with the decision. If it was your bloke being knocked out you would say the same thing! JT by nature will always go close to the suspension line, he crossed it this time, not that big a deal, he's not a dirty player but he will learn.

Every club gets iffy decisons, heck we had Hodges suspended in a final series for an iffy one. Not as if your side should be immune from copping one.

Apologies if this has already been said - the cynic in me says they knew he'd get suspended and would prefer this early in the season he be suspended 2 weeks with no carry-overs as opposed to 1 week with carry-overs that could come back to bite them when it matters.

Peter Parr, the Cowboys Football Manager, was interviewed after the hearing. Parr said it was Taumalolo who wanted to fight the charge and it was felt they had to support his decision, which is why they fought it at the judiciary. You can hear him say it in this video on the Cowboys website (at around the 55 second mark, the interview is 2 mins long).

I don't get the furore tbh. Sure it wasn't worth two weeks but that's his fault for contesting a clear cut shoulder charge.

Yeah on here it's just Charlie, granted. But in general there seems to be quite a lot of angst over it around Facebook and whatnot and I'm really not sure why...

Ah righto, fair enough.

Have not looked elsewhere to be honest so have no clue.

As far as I am concerned it was certainly no less a shoulder charge than the other two that got 2 weeks in round 1. It was (in my opinion) worse than Taupau's given his had the extenuating issue of Jake T smashing the bloke underneath and Taupau actually having raised his arm.

Looked pretty text book to me.

He was a clown for fighting it.

Shoulder charge every day of the week, sucks but it's the truth.

The greatest injustice in all of this is that what Lolo did could have ever been considered illegal in out game.

f**king ridiculous. It was a great play.

I'm just glad we've found a way to rule out one of the most exciting young talents in the game for 2 weeks for not hurting anyone or doing anything the majority of fans dislike.

To double down by not citing Smith's lifting tackle which nobody likes to see is classic NRL.

Let's see how they grade these when it happens in a semi final.

The issue for mine is the consistency. While I agree its a pretty bullshit rule anyway, if they are going to enforce it - MAKE IT CONSISTENT!

The only thing consistent about the NRL is their inconsistency.
