I do not understand how games with Melbourne are reffed.
This is the biggest myth on this forum. Melbourne are the most penalised team yet people go on and on about how they get favouritism from the refs and how Smith controls the refs. It's bullshit.

It's cute that you think last night was a cricket score.

BRISBANE 71 (T Carroll 2 J Hodges 2 B Tate 2 D Boyd P Civoniceva G Eastwood B Hannant K Hunt J Moon tries M Ennis 4 C Parker 4 D Lockyer 3 goals D Lockyer field goal) bt NEWCASTLE 6 (J Mullen try C Paterson goal) at Suncorp Stadium. Referee: B Cummins. Crowd: 27,433.

Are you referring to me ? It's even cuter that you think I'm a Noughts fan.

Like all the other teams high on the most penalised list - the blind majority of their penalties happen on or close to their own try line and are clearly deliberate. It's not a myth. Melbourne get away with an astonishing amount of shit in defence that they then receive penalties for in subsequent attacking sets.

The problem is now though - all teams are getting away with garbage in the ruck lately. The refs have no control.

Don't you think it's a bit rich to make taking the piss out of another club's set of fans for whinging about the refs?

He's taking the piss out of a guy for whinging about the refs when that person constantly takes the piss out of other people for whinging about the refs. Any time someone mentions a ref mistake that favours the broncos, frank grimes is there to call them a sook. Good to see him getting the same treatment right back.

Not true. Just using the last three games as an example. Melbourne have conceded 22 penalties. Only 5 of those penalties have come in the 20m zone

Incorrect. I take the piss out of people who blame the refs for their team's loss.

Consider yourself corrected. You're welcome. Kinda creepy that you're so obsessed with me though...

3 games... Got links to this data?

As I said - Melbourne get away with a ridiculous amount of bullshit and then seem to jag soft penalties very soon after for the same infractions.

It's all there in the nrl app. The heat map shows where all the penalties are given. I used 3 games as an example cause I couldn't be bothered going back further. Every team gets away with a lot shit and then get penalties for the exact same thing, not just Melbourne.

The phantom penalties are a blight on the game.

The Broncos deserved to be thoroughly beaten, but to pick and choose when to blow a penalty is a rubbish. In the context of the game and all the other rubbish that went on the ruck, to penalise Blair for a hand on the face was poor officiating.

71-6, in a finals game no less. Did Newie have a heap of injuries? Still can't believe that scoreline.

Haha thanks Grimesy-dunno why i thought it was a final. Still, fair old porking.

You might have been thinking of this semi final from the year before:

http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/seasons/nrl-2006/semi-final/brisbane-vs-newcastle/summary.html

50-6 with a halftime score of 24-0.

Can't remember any injuries for Newcastle on that night - Joey even played, but Brisbane were on an absolute tear in the back end of 2006 - no one was going to beat them. Even Civ got a try that night.
