We didn't take our chances and the Storm defence is just remarkable. But I'd like to see the sin bin used against teams that repeatedly concede penalties in their own 20. It really is on the rise.

Also just remember Penrith fans: the Storm beat the Sharks by an almost identical scoreline in rnd 26 last year.

Look how that turned out.

I recall that they bombed a few tries too so it was never as bad as the score suggested.

I think those two no-tries for the Panthers ended up being 12 point swingers.Add the questionable last try...

Anyhow,I stated earlier in this thread that the difference will be the inexperience in the halves.

In the second half, and having over 50 tackles in their half showed that the halves do have some catching up to do as far as organising is concerned.

The thing is our top players have been together so long that we're more likely to click earlier. Teams like the panthers are still improving and learning their structure so they have their ups and downs. Whereas the storm are pretty well the same unit each week.

If you don't play at a very high level the storm are going to beat you. When a team goes above that sometimes I think we struggle to go up a gear and that's why we falter in the finals.

Melbourne are a bloody good team with amazing defence. But as a neutral geez the way they play is hard to like. Their system has changed the game for the worse.
Personally I don't mind it. It's not like they don't score exciting tries or put on nice set moves.

Just got around to watching the highlights. Had a wedding so I couldn't watch, but 5-0 start to the season. Huge

I honestly was in awe of their scrambling defence tonight, it was a sight to see.
I thought you were unlucky to end up with only six points. Certainly wouldn't know from the scoreline that Panthers had 58% possession tonight. I dislike watching my team defend on the tryline for set after set after set but they got the job done.

against any other team we would have scored at least 4 tries tonight. in the end you guys gave us a plethora of chances and so did a lot of lucky six again calls but that was the best defensive effort of 2017 by far

Just to put into perspective how good the Storm defence is, they've conceded only 48 points in 5 games. Dragons are the next best with 66 points but they've only played 4 games. After that it's Broncos with 75. Incredible really.

I don't get how Smith manages to stand in tackles so often. He's a midget relatively speaking, but defenders can't take him to ground. The guy is just nuts.

Bloody good game of footy. Panthers really put it to the Storm, but their defense was amazing.
