We have to stop relying on tv figures as our only argument ..

It's just not good enough ..simple

We need to build that Rock solid base for each club..

Sydney clubs have a 10-15k base of game going fans basically that's all

Grow this to 20k and you fix a lot of issues..

Selling a 3 game membership doesn't address this ..

I don't believe anyone has suggested this. But it's one step closer to the solution which is to slowly change the attitude towards attendance.

It will take generational change and a lot of time to achieve large crowds which is why I don't get the impatient attitude a lot of people have on here. This is a 20-40 year process, not a one year thing.

Awesome crowd in Brisbane. Also if the dragons finish this off it means we get Souths v dragons next week and are guaranteed one of those 2 against the roosters.

Both those games should be 40K+ which is an incredible result. Couldn't ask for better.

Hopefully sharks v panthers and the storm match can get 25K. Would be a great finish to the finals crowd wise.

TV ratings suggest otherwise

TV ratings have hardly been spectacular for the 1st week games and have been well behind the AFL.

In reality we had in the region of
10k sharks fans
14k roosters fans
12k Penrith fans

Turn up for finals, pretty shthouse but reflective of just how well supported these nrl clubs are in Sydney.

16k melbourne fans
40k Brisbane fans
Around 5k Sydney based warriors fans
1k Souths fans travelled or living in Melbourne

If the Sydney clubs had the storms 16k fans we’d have seen far more respectable attnedances at the Sydney games.

It's a pretty simple starting point for the NRL

For each club how many people will come on a freezing cold night in the rain ..

For the broncos .. this is 22k ..

For manly this is 6k

For South's it's 9k

Knights -13k


This is the hardcore guys/girls . This is what the AFL has at all clubs .. except the 2 new ones..

Work out what makes this base tick and you solve crowd problems.. does the nrl have a database of this group of people?

If they do treat them like Kings.. offer free Ubers to game.. offer free jerseys .. talk to them .. email em .. sms em ..

This is the key to growing it long term..

Saints seem to have fans everywhere.

They benefit greatly from being godlike at the time that TV became common across Australia. Easily the best supported Sydney club in SEQLD
