Too hot, too wet, not the right day, not the right time. Good to see the thread excuses are on form early lol.

Reality is either A) the nrl Isnt as popular as we think or B) nrl fans arent very committed to supporting their clubs.

Either way why people’s expectations are so unrealistic despite years of crowd stagnation, in fact deteriation , I dont really understand.

That manly crowd is sht which ever way you want to spin it.
It’s neither.
The fact is Manly is a Intrust nsw size team not an Nrl team. In all seriousness how Big can Manly actually be?

If we could go finally get the overdue updates to Brookvale and didn't have to deal with the neverending smear campaign in the North quite a bit bigger. As it stands the ground continues to fall further into disrepair and Bears fans remain firmly stuck in the past.

Just merge with em again. Northern Eagles MK 2.

Club's like a stand alone Manly are holding the NRL firmly in the past.

In all seriousness, it's hard to blame the club on a day like today. I don't usually accept that mitigating factors like weather are a valid excuse. At least not enough to justify some of our very below par crowds, but at a ground like Brookie, with very little undercover seating, 10k was very impressive today.

Manly have a small but very loyal supporter base.

It was 40 bloody degrees there which is dangerously hot for some people and most of Brookvale doesn’t look like it’s in the shade. Targeting today’s crowd at Brookvale doesn’t have credibility.
I grew up in 40 degrees in the outback. Definitely preferable to 35 and humid in Cairns. I wonder what I would think of it now.

I applaud it like everyone should, call it as it is. It was too hot, pleeeeease!
For a top tier sport anything under 15k, dangerous weather excepted, should be called sht.

Yesterday's weather was dangerous.

It doesn't have to be a flood or a cyclone for it to be dangerous.

I don’t see Brookvale ever getting a substantive upgrade. Which is a pity because I think RL needs a team based in the north.

40 degrees or thereabouts is dangerous ,for the elderly, young kids, and even young people who ma.y have any un known condition that could be affected by extreme heat.
More so with zero cover.
It's a flipping winter sport, not an Arab camel race.

More than half the A-League season is played in far worse conditions.

Not to mention the countless thousands happy to sit and bake in the sun for an entire day for a test match. It would deter some going but to call it dangerous is a bit much. Dangerous for the players in those conditions, yes, but for Joe or Jane Spectator, no.

I think most of those will be spot on, the Storm game should of been aiming for 20k+ but it is now hamstrung by the Thursday night timeslot and the fact that the AFL first game is on over the road at the same time. (Bit of forward planning and this could of been avoided)
As a Tigers fan I would hope that we could sell out Friday night, they always whinge at Campbelltown because they don't get quality games, now they have a game against the Broncos with our team undefeated so here's your chance to turn up.
With all the storyline behind the Roosters v Knights you would think 18-20k, but I'm sure there will be plenty of excuses from the Roosters as to why their fans couldnt make it.

Round 3 -
Storm v Cowboys - 16K
Bulldogs v Panthers - 8K
Tigers v Broncos - 12K
Raiders v Warriors - 12K
ANZ Double Header - 28K
Titans v Dragons - 8.5K
Roosters v Knights - 11K

Not confident in any Sydney crowd this week with a smell of rain around. If it pisses down Friday neither game will crack 10K.

Not feeling great about our crowd prospects on Thursday with the defending AFL premiers opening the season just over the road. 15k will be the max IMO
