Generally I don’t think people are overly negative, just dissapointed a lot of the time. For me the bar is 15k with where the game is at. Anything over great, anything less meh. Of course there will always be numerous factors that can create one off good of bad crowds but that’s why we look at avg’s to get a sense of trends.

Just be nice to see some sustained growth, the reality is crowds haven’t really moved for over a decade. Given the money in the game and the growing population that isn’t good enough and a poor reflection on the sport imo.

to counter that
no sports position has improved crowd wise in the last decade
& 2 have literally fallen off the radar in soccer & union

so its not just an NRL thing

Clubs are paid $100k to play at ANZ. Even a good crowd of 30k leaves 50k empty seats or clubs get $300k to play in packed little regional venues..No brainer really.

Playing in Bathurst for us has grown to now having 3 academies out central West. Not only funding Western Division but putting teams in the country comp themselves with the aim to start a 2nd tier team out there.

So in the grand scheme of things crowds are irrelevant
Excellent post ..shows what can happen when an NRL club connects with the bush
PR will ignore this post .
Crowds, ratings, good media Etc
There's a long list of important items in the NRL
Including regional areas

In PRs world regional teams ...future players & future fans are irrelevant .

Are these the same bush towns that will provide players to a Perth side if they ever get into the comp?

Or is PR going to coax Daniel Holdsworth out of retirement and clone him to make up the side?

PR has SFA idea of the importance of regional and country rugby league ,as feeding players to the big NRL clubs.
The bush has been badly neglected ,so now the NRL and clubs try to do something, and it's all a waste of time because of a small packed 10,000 venue.
Seriously,he must have been dropped by the midwife at birth.

Great post. There's no downside to taking games to the bush.

It’s a crowd watch thread, of course there are side benefits, but in terms of crowds it’s sht and reflects the nrl’sinability in this area. But yeh whatever wnkers.

Yes it's a crowd thread .
Yet when the positives of taking a game to the bush & playing at a smaller ground are posted you ignore .
Why is that .
Is it because it shows you up as a narrow minded clueless f**k when it comes to RL ?

Lol yep

Of course its a crowd watch thread ,and 10,000 attending a regional NRL game ,is a CROWD FFS.
Yet you only reflect on your side of the equation.Ignoring where the future players will come from ,eg the bush.
If getting 10,0000 to a neglected Nthn NSW town gets a couple more kids playing and eventually getting into the big time ,then it's worth it.If it gets more families wanting to get involved, it's worth it.
Plus many of these country folk come down to Sydney for G/Fs and SOO.Help boosting CROWDS.
Talk about a screw loose.

Like I said there are positive spin offs, but getting 10k to any nrl game is sht, and the more people call for regional games the more sht crowds we will get. If the spin offs are worth the sht crowds is simply an opinion of each individual.

Exactly, more regional people to watch on fta and or subscribe to fox. They will probably buy more merchandise too.

We’ve really got to stop playing in these small grounds in small towns.
