Don't think you are considering other tv audiences. Pretty sure the fans in NZ and the Pacific Islands would like to view the NRL grand final at a reasonable time? They don't have the public holiday which is only in Qld & NSW. (Not Australia wide) So already the time friendly scenario due to a public holiday is limited to a two states. The rest don't enjoy the public holiday. ? A few issues there I think!

They will keep feeding that out for a while. Probably actually do it when they are certain they have wrapped up the market place with their grossly overated sports product. (which is a training run compared to rugby league.)
