10,000 Is seen as a great crowd these days? how low our expectations for our great game have sunk.

It is for 6pm on a Friday night for an outer suburban ground crowd, playing a team who bring no one, on a bitter chilly night .
BTW as an AFL fan how many 6pm Friday games do the fumblers have? Just interested.

$45 for the Granstand behind the in goal area at Brookvale Oval, sheeez, I can remember when you could sit there as part of general admission. $66 for the main grandstand, wtf, this is the crappiest suburban ground and they are charging these prices.
Easily the most overpriced venue in the nrl if not the world.

They kick off at 6pm when they play in Perth on Friday. Not sure how often that is but they get 50k plus.

And Sydney where my point is aimed? How many 6pm starts for AFL? Zero comparison I suggest, when it comes to transport, trafic conditions and time taken.

Are you always this cranky when people answer your questions?
Lol
Great crowd at ANZ.

Cranky LOL my team won. My point is aimed at one bloke in particular (fill in the blanks.....)who bags constantly Sydney NRL crowds.
Great crowd indeed at ANZ .Gets back to scheduling and the match up of the teams. This would not have got a decent crowd at ANZ at 6pm.Which is my point.

There hasn't been a weekday evening AFL game start before 7pm on the Eastern seaboard in over a decade, only in Perth (due to the time difference).

I'd say it's because the AFL has determined that transport/traffic conditions on Thurs/Fri night doesn't suit their audience both to attend games and to watch on TV. The AFL however hasn't attempted a week night 'double header' in about a decade outside of public holidays-- where as the NRL does a Friday night double header most weeks for TV.

Just as I thought.Confirming 6pm games in Sydney are the scheduling dregs. At least they have decent control over their scheduling. One thing I grudgingly have to admit.
TBH I'd even be happy to get back to two games on a Friday night at 7-45pm on time.Gives people time to get there.Gives Tv stations two choices. And the ratings would be far better than the 6pm effort.

Apparently it’s only Sydney that has busy traffic on a Friday teatime lol

Nah, as I said in my previous post about AFL Weeknight game times the only time games start before 7pm on Thurs/Friday nights outside of Public holidays are in Perth-- no game in Melbourne, Adelaide or Brisbane starts before 7pm.

So it's either that Perth is more like a 'small country town' in regards to traffic congestion-- or that fans are able to make special arrangements with work/family, etc. to ensure they are there for a 6:10pm start for the ONE AFL game this year that starts that early.
