Can we get Julian O'Neill to be the face of the retro round.

Julian O'Neill's 'poo in the shoe'
No list of rugby league scandals is complete without mention of former Queensland State of Origin fullback Julian O'Neill.
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11580994

Early in his career he hit the headlines in 1995 when he appeared in court after reportedly urinating under a blackjack table at Jupiters Casino, but the infamous 'poo in the shoe' incident stands out as the worst of his many alcohol-related indiscretions.

The drama unfolded during a 1998 Rabbitohs preseason trip to Dubbo, where he defecated in teammate Jeremy Schloss' shoe.

He was later fined $10,000 by the club and subjected to widespread ridicule after reportedly informing teammates: "I just shat in Schlossy's shoe."

While on a trip to Australia with the Widnes Vikings in 2004, O'Neill allegedly tried to set fire to a highly flammable dolphin mascot suit that a 13-year-old boy was wearing on a river cruise in Port Macquarie.

O'Neill then stripped to his underwear and dived into the Hastings River, swam to shore and hitchhiked back to town.

Its curved tongue represented femininity, dare we say physical weakness.
Legend has it that when Robson refused to straighten the tongue, the protesters invoked the ancient gods and placed a curse on the Warriors.

Makes more sense than all their other excuses..

Of the above logos...

Should revert to the above “old” logo
Roosters
Raiders
Bulldogs
Panthers

Should stick with current “modern” logo:
Knights
Manly
Sharks
Warriors

Shit old AND new logo, needs new design altogether
Broncos
Cowboys

Unchanged
Dragons
Titans
Tigers
Storm (essentially)
Souths
Eels (essentially reverted to very similar)
Canterbury's current logo is easily the best they've had IMO.

I mean it’s personal opinion and you’re a Dogs fan so fair call.

But for me. ever since that new Dogs logo was released, it’s never felt right. I can’t put my finger on why. Maybe it feels like it has tried to incorporate too many elements? The CB of the original logo, the dog from the main old logo, the jersey in the background. It just feels like too much and a bit too corporate/politically correct. It doesn’t feel genuine to me. Also the shape...I don’t associate Canterbury with a “shield”. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t bad. I just prefer the old logo.

To me this logo IS Canterbury

Out of those logos, only the Roosters and Sharks would benefit from going back to their old style (and I would update those logos anyway).

Dogs are fine now. Penrith failed miserably at simplifying the leaping panther design and should start over (again). Raiders should updating their current logo without reinventing the wheel (less cartoony) since the original logo isn't great.

Cowboys horn logo is unique and has just been framed poorly since its inception since it has such an awkward width:height ratio.

LOL, no absolutely not.

The club already has a huge problem with living in the past and calling back to long lost glory days instead of putting the hard yards in to create a better future, we definitely don't need to be further cementing that problem...

I'm open to changing the design of the current logo or a new logo, but let the old logo stay where it belongs: in the past.

Would love to see NQ get a refresh or completely new logo.

Yes, nostalgia aside that old Raiders logo is not as good as I remember it. Looks like a primary school kid designed it. Anything looks good when you are winning Grand Finals, even a lime green jersey.

As for the current Dogs logo. Since the change was from this monstrosity, I dont think Dogs fans have to many complaints.

What's with the blue and grey swoosh thing is it meant to represent the opera house

Fair call. Again, I'm not one to tell fans of teams what they should or shouldn't do. For me, again, that 90's raiders logo is iconic. Although I agree, when I zoom in, it is very dated. But I love the vibe of the yellow/lime. And on the current logo the text just doesn't know where to sit. It looks like it is slapped on the side rather than part of the logo.

Whilst this looks terrible, is there anyway of incorporating the old with the new?

I'll pass thanks... It's still glory days rose tinted glasses BS, and the club needs to be looking to the future not the past.

If we're going to update the current logo then all that really needs to be done is an update to the colour scheme (which is what is slowly being implemented by the club btw).

If on the other hand the club was going for a brand new logo then I'd be all for a less cartoony viking with a much more realistic and aggressive look about him, so get rid of the horned helmet and replace it with a spectacled helmet and give him more realistic dimensions, then chuck him on a badge that is made to look vaguely like a stylised viking shield with the text in the rim, then somewhere in the badge (maybe just beneath the viking) add an aggressive sort of motto (the sort of motto you could see a real raiding party from the Dark Ages having as it's motto if a raiding party from the dark ages was to have a motto) but that also acts as a statement of intent, maybe have it written in viking runes (though that would be hard to do cause of the lack of a Norse Rosetta stone) or in Latin so that it's something you have to be on the inside to understand.

That's what I'd do anyway, all the best elements of an old school European sports club logo mixed with modern stylised design and a viking motif.
