Cabra and Mounties had a 16 all draw in RM.
Now a bad game of RL at all

Cabra and Moorebank had an 18 all draw in SS
Pedestrian game that could have been worse but good have been a lot better

Cabra are certainly competitive this season, the first time for years - some judicious recruitment, they will want to avoid injuries because there are not many in SS that could fill gaps in RMC.

Mounties looked very slick in the opening part of the game, scoring once and then shortly afterwards, Mitch Kennedy strolled over off a Maurice Kennedy pass, only to see it ruled "forward". Cabra fed off this let off and started to display some dominance to lead 14-6 including a penalty goal. The binning of Donny Thompson proved costly as Mounties scored twice in the 5 minutes before the break. The second try came when Cabra kicked dead and with 30 seconds remaining, Mounties saw that there was no full back in place, kicked through from the tap restart and Mataele regathered and scored in the corner for 14-14 at half time.

Neither side could conclusively break the defensive structures in the second half. Mounties rejected a penalty goal in front at 20 minutes and then spilt the ball. Cabra hit the lead with their second penalty goal 12 minutes from time and then Mounties reciprocated in the 74th minute for a stalemate.

Glebe Burwood are looking like prime contenders, not so much for smashing Wests but their strong round 1 win against Blacktown is magnified by BWSE's subsequent efforts against St Marys last night, and for smashing the Newcastle premiers last week.

Ben Mathiou must have shown some good form for Belrose in their loss to East Campbelltown in SS as he has been named as 18th man for Newtown in ISP this week.

He’s also be named as 18th man for Glebe-Burwood against St Marys on Saturday. He played well for Belrose. Couple of mistakes but regularly bent the line when he hit the bail up.

Actually i believe it’s Ben Marschke who was named as 18th man for Newtown. Ben Mathiou is 18th man for Glebe-Burwood only it would appear.

That makes more sense but while NSWRL Live has been updated, the League unlimited list is still showing the original entry

Josh Drinkwater has left Western Suburbs Magpies to take up a deal with the Catalans.

A damn shame for Wests as Josh has been in brilliant form.

Has anyone seen Addision Demetriou play recently? In all honesty this lad should be in the NRL, or at least playing in the Jets ISP team. He has all the talent in the world but a reputation for not being the best trainer in the world. Judging from the photos I have seen he is looking very lean. I am keen to hear the thoughts of others.

RMC
... ... ...
Cabra were up against it today with Joel Luani, Michael Morgan and D'rhys Miller all being elevated to ISP this weekend, whereas Wenty had the bye in ISP and sent back Nathan Milone, Atini Gafa, Haimona Hroti and Nick Kassis to RMC.
... ... ...

RLF, how are these lads traveling so far? the Dogs' ISP team (and their NRL team for that matter) is not performing very well at present and these lads might earn a call-up if they are performing well. So far they have only been named on Dogs' extended benches but they may push for a spot if they are playing well.

Are you aware if Tom Carr has played for Cabra. I have not seen him named in any Dogs' ISP teams since Round 1 or 2.

He’s played two games for Glebe-Burwood this season, the 58-10 round 3 RMC win over Wests and the 40-10 win over Macquarie Scorpions the week before in the NSWRL Challenge Cup.
He’s been a standout in both matches, particularly against the Scorpions. He’s played in the centres, although he briefly slotted into the back row against Wests. Kicked 8 or 9 goals too. Class player. Expecting a big season from him.

Morgan and Luani were competent against Mounties. Tom Carr has not played.

It is likely that the clash next week between Guildford and Asquith will determine which club will be the main threat to Glebe Burwood in 2018. The Wolves dismissed St Marys 42-22 at the well manicured Goddard Cricket Ground today.

Although Glebe dominated early territory and scored first, the Saints led 18-12 after captain Nathan Smith skilfully threaded his way through the defence to score just before half time. This was the only Saints touchdown that did not result from Glebe dropping the ball in their own red zone.

St Marys had only 5 of the 26 players who played 5 or more games last season, with most of those now playing ISP for various clubs. The young guys playing in the centres had their hands full with Addison Demetriou, who scored a hat trick, and Lachlan Stein, while Manumanelli and Jesse Marschke created opportunities that saw a rampaging Jordi Topai land a double.

Similarly, Glebe had only 4 that had played for the club before this season but this is due significant new recruitment by both Newtown and the Wolves. 5 guys were playing their first RMC game today - Stein, Willis Meehan, Louis Meehan, Ben Mathiou and Sam Latu so they have enormous depth.
