The Fiji team returned without him he made it back a day before the Semi Final.
Apparently his residency application will be torn up if he leaves the country and wouldn't be allowed back into the country so Penrith hoping they won't have to travel to NZ or Brisbane during the finals.

I'm not sure that is correct, but it has only become news now because they are playing in NZ.

One article said an incorrect box was ticked on paperwork during the World Cup and that is why he's not allowed to leave the country.

The Immigration Dept love to keep you on edge until the last possible moment. I have personal experience with this. The Griffin issue will remain until the side does better this year than they did under him, ie week 3 of the finals or beyond.
