If the ball is on the ground & his hand comes down & touches it, it’s downward pressure.

Not much....but downward nevertheless.

Anyway, couldn’t happen to a more ref favoured club...so f**k ‘em.

Interesting rule, I'd have thought that was a try.
Jack Bird is a porker but fast enough still.
Jack is wearing a rather large sternum protector, most blokes prefer the one that look bra like, Jack is wearing a much bigger version.

Just google sternum protector, they come in various sizes, they wear these and not shoulder pads these days, due to front on ball and all tackles, used to be take the legs, now you have to tackle chest on.

I suspect it was because the ref went upstairs with a call that he push it forward not down the VR had to stick with that.
There's no doubt he touched it but he didn't apply downward pressure.
And now a shepherd. lol again
