Here's hoping.By round 5... You will be begging to have Maloney's babies.
If he can match Soward 2014 he will do well for us. Especially having a shitload better halves partner.

Mx we were talking about our team, not the other teams in the top 8. You think Hook had a brilliant roster compared to Cleary, but last year Hook had a very inexperienced spine and also had lots of changes. You have changed the discussion to bring in other teams. I could equally compare Hooks roster to the spines in the top 8 now and we would not be better than any of them.Fullback - Whare x5 games, Naiqama x2, Moylan x13 games, Coote x4 games
5/8th - coote was first choice. Injured Round 2 though. tom humble and isaac john split the season...
Halfback - luke walsh
Hooker was kingston. Segs on bench
That was by far the worst halves pairing in the competition and none of those halves were considered NRL quality by another club. The fact they got as many games as they did for us is testament to how shit our roster was back then
Fullback was a f**king mess thanks to the contracts that year. Whare was brought here with promise to get first crack. And was terrible. Wes got next shot and when injuries hit we could use Moylan. But he was forced out of the team for Wes one week and the last 4 games when Coote was fit.
Our centres were primarily Dean Whare after Round 5 and the other alternating between Lewis Brown, Wes Naiqama and Brad Tighe. One class centre and fringe first grade centres... in the case of Brown and Wes ghey coildnt nail a position.
Mansour split the season with Travis Robinson and James Roberts on the wing.
Our pack gave heaps of games to superstars Ryan Simpkins, Matt Robinson, Clint Newton and Cameron Ciraldo.
Honestly on any given day of 2013 we had 3 or 4 forwards who were reserve graders, a reserve grade halves pairing and half a backline that sucked.
Clearys first 2 years the only signings we made were players no one wanted. Gus signed unwanted journeyman with experience. He said he needed those types of players as we werrnt going to win many games and he didnt want to throw our young guys to the wolves.
Cleary wasn't perfect. But youre on drugs if you think that was a top 8 roster. Heres the spines of the 5th to 8th teams... all shit on ours.
8th place - Cowboys with Bowen, Thurston, Lui, Thompson
7th place - Knights with Boyd, Mullen, Gidley and Buderus
6th place - Bulldogs with Barba, Reynolds, Hodkinson and Ennis
5th place - Sharks with Gordon, Carney, Robson and De Gois
Tell me which spine ours was better then in the bottom half of the top 8?
You talk as if the more games a player has behind them is what determines how good they are. Its not.Mx we were talking about our team, not the other teams in the top 8. But since you brought it up, how can the 2013 halves be a reserve grade paring when Walsh played 121 first grade games before leaving for the UK where he has played another 85 games? Kingston and Segeyaro were both quality hookers. Moylan got to play fullback 13 times, that's more than half the season. I don't think Walsh was brilliant, but unlike Cleary he was experienced and unlike Cleary he had a fullback with some experience for part of the season and Tom Humble and Isaac John both played more games than May. Walsh also had two Hookers with more experience than Katoa.
If 2013 was a reserve grade halves pairing our 2017 spine at the end was u20's.
Come on mate. She tried to have a dig at everyone here:
"Totally agree well said. The club is perhaps better positioned since the early 90s. I know that won't sit well with many, but it's the truth."
When that didn't work and people agreed she found another reason to have a go. We are damned if we do damned if we don't it seems.
So she isn't allowed to have a view unless it agrees with yours. And if people disagree with Mx, they're part of a 'circle jerk', etc, etc. Why can't people just agree to disagree without the bullshit abuse? We all want the Panthers to win, but we all have our own views on it. How about we try "live and let live"?
Tom.
No idea how you thought what I said was about a difference of opinion when I do it with others all the time and its a non-issue. It's more she couldn't give her opinion without taking the opportunity for a passive aggressive swipe on the way through.
"I know that won't sit well with many, but it's the truth"
Just discuss. No need for the added extras which sends the conflict in circles.
You continue to persist with the idea experience doesn't matter in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. When you can show me a team of inexperienced halves winning a premiership then you have some evidence, even then that would one out of many and not a sufficient sample size to be a trend. JT didn't start as the best halfback, he developed into it. When he wast starting out, experienced players like Kimmorley and Finch were better than him. As he got experience all of his skills got sharper and he read the game better and then players like Kimmorley couldn't lace his boots. Walsh was halfback when we finished second, he created a squllion tries off of his boot. A 19 year old Cleary is not as good as Walsh in his prime. I think one day he will be, although there is no evidence yet to suggest he is any better at creating tries than Walsh. He certainly is physically stronger, faster, a better defender and better goal kicker. Time will tell. He has still only played 41 games.Do I think that team is better when Cleary, May, Katoa and Edwards have games under their belt? Absolutely not, but they delivered the worst attack inside the red zone in the NRL last year and that 2013 side would beat them.
You don't let up do you. Continual. It's like water torture, drip, drip.
Guess what: I will continue to offer my opinion regardless of what you think.
Still is.Walsh was f**king awful
Get over yourself. I'm not the one who keeps bringing dead subjects back to life.
I thought so. Things are only unacceptable when others are doing it. You're free to act like a jerk to fellow forum members though. Also funny how it's got nothing to do with a simple difference of opinion but nice try at twisting things.
Excuse me, by quoting your bringing life to the conversation. Your not very smart are you ?
You don't have very good reading comprehension do you?
I said other people are the ones quoting me bringing up subjects that have been done and everyone moved on. I'm the one who's not intelligent but you don't understand basic English. Makes sense.
Oh dear. Since I'm not the person who bringing up 'forgotten subjects', then chooses to put it in bold I suggest you're the person with the issues.
As it's been suggested to me on occassions, if me being on this forum (and all) bothers you so much. There is an ignore button you could use.
But I suppose the list of folks currently being ignored by you is growning at a rate of knots.
I like everyone on here except for you right now and even then your fine when just discussing the footy like everyone else.
You really have no idea about this time line of events do you? Either that or you're deliberately twisting things to make yourself feel like a victim.
1. Someone spoke to me.
2. I replied.
3. You complained I don't stop ignoring the previous facts.
4. I pointed out said facts.
5. You're now complaining it wasn't you.
6. Maybe you realise your mistake now yeah.
I want this. But only if he's 100%. If he's even 90% just give Chrichton a run.Seriously I have no idea what Old Panther's issue is.
Now some footy.
Hopefully Dallin is on the wing. I understand he completed training late last week.
I'm looking forward to the footy finally starting.
