2019 coach

I don't know whether Gus wants Cleary or not, but Gus has just said that the Board wanted Griffin gone and he (Gus) wanted to give him more time. Fletcher, in the on air interview, said the board sacked Griffin on Gus's advice. So who's telling porkies?

Tom.

From past experience Fletcher doesn’t seem to know what’s going on. He’s made several odd statements.

But then Gould has lied a fair bit too.

Hahahahaha. It’s a clusterf**k.

It looks fantastic

The alternative was hopelessly limping out of the finals week 2 at best AND THEN a review in which Gould would be trying to figure out how to make Griffin work for the next 2 f**king years.

f**k no. That's the clusterf**k and this is the absolute best thing that could have happened.

The club looks unprofessional, complete amateur hour. That’s not good for recruitment of players or coaches. So whilst there is an advantage to having Griffin gone, it would’ve been better for it to happen at the end of the season.

I doubt anyone gives a shit and wouldn't trade away some hope at the end of this season for it anyway.

We don't know what the players and staff were saying or any ill feelings they had towards Griffin.

For all we know the players may be happier that he is gone??

We will get an idea this weekend when we play the Titans.

We do know, Gould spells it out in the podcast. They didn’t like the way he was doing things.

But that review was conducted 8 weeks ago, and they didn’t act.

It’s not the end result that’s poor, it’s the handling of the issue.

Hook's gone.

So it's less of a clusterf**k then we were in last week.

Not the point though, is it? It is how all of this is shaking out. Our all-powerful GM working at cross-purposes with the board, who are apparently chasing after a coach Gould doesn't really want, a coach we fired three years ago. After firing our current coach less than a year after getting him to sign a contract extension.

I mean, come on. This is amateur hour.

Are you expecting Ivan Cleary to be coaching at the Panthers next year?

Gus - "No" - But I'm not privy to what went down in the conversation (the Cleary and Dave O'Neill conversation).

Gould says he hasn't spoken to Ivan.
Watch the interview with Gus that was televised. I said this about 8 pages ago in this thread.

In the interview with Gould he was asked, "...are you confident you will get him - your preferred coach?"
Gus answered - "I don't know. I haven't been in those conversations"

What was also interesting is that it appears the decision has been made because when asked about applicants and Ciraldo, he was not telling the truth.

Seems to me Gus has a difference of opinion to the board.

Well, at least that makes more logical sense than Gould suddenly having a hard-on again for a coach he sacked.
Yep, everyone should watch the interview and watch his body language and eyes. He was lying when answering some questions but 100% telling the truth when answering that one (Unless of course he is left handed). The preferred coach question was at 3.49 of the vid.

Maybe the board want Ivan coaching temporarily and for him to replace Gus.

Would make sense as to why Ivan was so willing to return. Forcing Gus out of his job.

Is it a coincidence you resurface on this forum when the going is a little tough. I think not, you went somewhat silent when things where apparently travelling well and all of a sudden you re-appear out of the blue when the conversation a little different. The forum was all the better without you so perhaps you should go back to where you came from. You are most certainly not a fan. I much prefer those I agree or disagree with year round rather than someone like you.

Possibly, that may be why Gus said "I don't know. I wasn't in those conversations".

In saying that, I don't see how Ivan replacing Gus as GM is a good thing for our club.

My, aren't you a pleasant chap. I'm discussing the topic at hand, am I not? What do you think you are doing?

I think the forum would be better without comments like this.
