That’s my point, it may not work with Cleary either.

This is a club starved of success, give me someone who can coach premierships over anyone else.

Hmmm What to do ?? What to do ???

Premiership window is open for us, if we can get the right coach. Also need to have a view for the future.

I think we should

1. Extend Cleary's contract by 12 months. This takes immediate pressure off him, and lines up his next contract with Ivan's.

2. In 2 years sign Ivan and Nathan longer term. Ivan sees out his contract at Tigers, and we get to keep Nathan. Win Win Win for all concerned.

3. In the interim, get a coach that can win a grand final, not a rookie learning the ropes (no offence intended to Ciraldo). I think the obvious choice would be Bennett. Looking for a final few years til he retires. He is the second most successful coach in NRL and I think can get us across the line for a few years.

He rebuilt 3 clubs.

Warriors. Panthers and Tigers were all a mess before him. He took Warriors to a grand final and only missed the finals the year they were docked 4 points and the year Sonny Fai died.

He took us from our lowest point and helped build us to what we are.

He has now stabilized the Tigers and has them one win from 8th with a pretty average roster.

We want a coach to take us to next level...So we get one unproven at getting teams to that level. Very strange

He has taken Warriors to a grand final and us to week 3 of finals.

How is he unproven? He helped rebuild us and got sacked right as shit was coming together. In one season he has twice as many wins over Storm as we fo in 15 years over thrm.

Our one win came with him as coach. Hook has never beaten Bellamy. In 7 seasons as a coach.

He has 9 wins and 13 losses against Bellamy. Which means his record at Warriors and Tigers is incredible against them.

If we had him as coach right now we would rate our premiership chances knowing we can beat Storm.

Brad Arthur has beaten Bellamy twice. That doesn't mean he can take teams to the next step either

I am not in support of Ivan Cleary coming back here. Having said that, I would say that Gordon Tallis has how much NRL coaching experience? Tallis played for a club that cheated the salary cap to maintain what was effectively an illegal roster. Panthers and West went through major rebuilding in the time of Cleary. We all know how bad Penrith was when Cleary arrived and he left it in a much better state.

I call bullshit on Tallis. Just a brainless front rower with a big mouth.

Yeah just ignore the week 3 of finals (with an injury depleted side) and his grand final appearance. Like every coach he needs stars to align. But he's capable of getting there

Apparently Chris Smith on 2GB is saying Wayne Bennett has signed on for 2019. In his rumour file, and it is 2GB, so grain of salt..
