Is it a matter of not being disliked or do other Sydney clubs just have a bigger fanbase there?
Genuine question
In this case a bit of both.

Once off, would be a long time since the last 1v2 match at the Gabba.Lions crowd: 35,608
Broncos officially playing second fiddle to the AFL
That's embarrassing. It's like they don't even want a NRL team in their cityLions crowd: 35,608

Has been 15 years so very obviously a once off.Once off, would be a long time since the last 1v2 match at the Gabba.
Melbourne crowd looking a bit thin this arvo, perhaps everyone is across the road at the netball...
The Brisbane situation says a lot though. Compare it to the crowds the storm get. The fact is the AFL engage with their fans a lot better and do a lot more to get crowds. Obviously put a better show on. The NRL clubs are totally half arsed.
The ALF also have money to burn and throw freebies out like confetti.
They also massively fudge crowd figures, as we all know.

Half arsed in what way?
EPL games run pretty much at capacity and there’s a game of football and that’s it. If the event is good enough the other shit doesn’t matter.
Yeah but with league we don’t have that “problem” so they need to put on a better show or accept that AFL ae the best which I have all but conceded anyway. Their fans like the game more than league fans like league which pretty much means it is a better game.
