Hopefully with proper promotion the storm game can get some walk ups from the AFL if on saturday night

It’s a perfect opportunity for the nrl to promote to the 95k who will be rolling out of the mcg, you only need to pick up 10% of them to add to the storm fans and they’d fill aami. Let’s see if the nrl marketing dept has any fricking clue how to do their job.

Good crowds all through the weekend with the worst in Melbourne

Wonder what Perth red will say

Like I said storm had 19500 storm fans at the game. Which other clubs had that many of their fans turn up? There is only one big club in Sydney at the moment that is comparable and that is the Eels.

Apparently 15500 at lottoland was a better crowd than 20000 in Melbourne. Go figure!

It sounds like a good idea in theory but in reality, how many would be prepared to pay for two finals tickets in one day? I suggest at current pricing, unfortunately that won’t be too many. Regular season paying for a gen admin ticket maybe, finals pricing is a bit of an ask for walk ups.

That’s what you’d market to them. Show your afl ticket at the gate and get in for $20 or similar. Surely getting 10,000 people, who wouldn’t have normally gone @$20 a ticket is better than a third of the seats sitting empty in aami?

Actually a good idea too. Storm could even partner with one of/both AFL teams that are playing to offer discount tickets at $10-$20 and chuck them all in where spaces usually are such as corners or up high on the TV camera facing stand. Maybe chuck in some incentives such as beer or cheap pies and package that for $40-50.

At the right pricing point there would definitely be some interest there

People are making their plans for next weekend now. Nrl should have had this scenario in their heads and a marketing campaign ready to roll out today. Sigh.

Great crowd, well done Eels fans.

Quick question but is parramatta a suburb of Sydney or is it a city in its own right that has been swallowed up by a growing Sydney population??

One of the two AFL teams on Saturday afternoon are the GWS Giants--- can't imagine they have many fans in Melbourne, they barely have any in Sydney :p

But it's a brilliant idea-- maybe not for the Prelim final, but should definitely be done for a H&A game next year. Maybe in the same fashion as there's the "away" corner, there can be an "AFL fan" corner in which there's a cheap merch/food package to get people into that area-- maybe even have Robbie Kearns go around that area and explain some of the rules before the game.

Yeah I agree. I went to a arvo AFL game a few years ago then walked across to AAMI to watch a Storm game afterwards. Must say, I was the only one who kept walking straight to AAMI after crossing the Train lines, most AFL fans just went home, so there is a huge market to capture
