Similarly Brisbane has seven teams (Broncos plus Redcliffe, Easts, Norths, Souths Logan, Ipswich and Wynnum)going by that logic Sydney has 16.5 / 17 teams (including the 9 nsw cup sides)

Melbourne has more teams with less people for the AFL.
Clubs like North and St Kilda in particular struggle, often Bulldogs too. Been a big "haves v have nots" down here foreverYet most of those are performing better crowds and membership wise (and I'm assuming financially?), and even still people throw around relocating some of the lowing drawing clubs
Honestly to me it makes the most sense for a second QLD team, it could attract the Brisbane sponsors, a massive university is opening next year, north lakes is exploding with trade, the money is in the region, compared to say Ipswich or Sunshine Coast or central QLD.Agree, perhaps 9 games in Redcliffe and derbys against the Titans/Broncos could be played at Suncorp, as well as the odd final. Having a "local" home ground would be an expansion team's best shot at long-term success. Dolphins stadium is a bit of a hike for the nearest train station but shuttle buses on game day will fix that. The venue doesn't look terrible as is but would no doubt be destined for some upgrades if an NRL club had regular fixtures there.

It also has a head start when it comes to the home ground, it’s a boutique stadium for league, it already holds 10,000, a few upgrades to 20,000 is easy done. Ipswich don’t have that, sunny coast do.
But here is the kicker, dolphins have more money then some NRL clubs already, they have a powerful leagues club, no other team in QLD can compete other then the broncos. I’m bias but to me it’s a clear winner.
I said use Redcliffe as the base to a Moreton bay team because it has the leagues club and the stadium already. Sunshine Coast is too far away and doesn’t have the corporate support if you know the area. Queensland’s population is exploding Moreton bay leads the way.Dolphins standing alone don't bring enough to the table by themselves to justify given them an expansion spot that is so very rare.
Realistically 20 teams would probably be the max in the next 25 years at least. If Redliffe want to come to the negotiating table for one of those spots as 'just Redcliffe' then the NRL should tell them to aim bigger.
Hence 'Moreton Bay Dolphins' targetting the North, East, Redcliffe, Sunshine Coast and up the coast as far as Gympie or Bundaberg would be a much better chance.

Better to stick with the Redcliffe name and ground the club in a specific community rather than a region. Seems to have worked OK for grassroots support in Newcastle, Geelong, Port Adelaide etc. I always thought the AFL might have had more success calling their expansion team the Parramatta Giants or Blacktown Giants rather than picking the vague "Greater Western Sydney" moniker. Trying to appeal to too broad an area and you may end up connecting with nobody.Hence 'Moreton Bay Dolphins' targetting the North, East, Redcliffe, Sunshine Coast and up the coast as far as Gympie or Bundaberg would be a much better chance.
Sorry mate lol. What’s the crowds looking like for 1We have an expansion forum for this stuff folks. Let's stick to Crowds.

If crowds struggle at times this year:Scheduling will of course have its usual bearing, but the off field issues and the money still left in people's pockets will play a big part IMO.
That's why clubs need to be flexible on promotions with kids and elderly folks at times.
May as well start guessing round 1
Storm/Broncos - 20k
Knights/sharks - 24k
Roosters/rabbits - 25k
Warriors/bulldog - 20k
Wests/manly - 15k
Cowboys/dragons - 18k
Panthers/eels - 18k
Titans/raiders - who knows. I will go 14k
No marketing too. Very poor so far
