Slightly better but still stand by that. Perfect game to of gone too Gosford

Unfortunately it doesn't even look close to our worse drawing game of the year. We also have to play Titans, Warriors and Knights there, all day games which for me are better candidates to go to Gosford.

There is some hope with the Penrith game in that it could be a top 4 clash 2 weeks out from the finals and you guys will at least bring some fans.

Friday night roosters at the SCG is a joke. Souths fans are usually families and you have a snowballs of getting them in the city on a Friday night

More NRL derpppppp

lol wtf
God people find some silly things to complain about. Souths fans are usually families? I suppose the other 15 clubs are supported mainly by single blokes?

Souths biggest supporter base live in the suburbs along Anzac Parade and Southern Cross Drive. You know, right next to the SCG.

Roosters draw doesn't look too bad.

We host Round 1 and Anzac this year,
and we have Broncos and Tigers early who are decent draws.
Raiders is at Suncorp so we avoid a dud crowd there.

If Bulldogs are still on the bottom of the table in June, that could be a tough sell but it's balanced by being a Sunday arvo game. Good timeslot.
Storm in Adelaide and Cows in Gosford, another 2 potential low draws mitigated somewhat if the Coasties show up.

Knights on a Saturday arvo in July could be good if the Pearce and Ponga show is firing on all cylinders.
Warriors and Panthers should be ok, good timeslots and Warriors at least bring some support to our games usually.

The only one I'm concerned about is Titans at the SCG.

Unless we get a bad run with weather, there's potential to get 30k in round 1 and Anzac, and maybe 20k against Tigers or Knights.
I'm sure I'll be disappointed but there's no real excuse for any below 10k.

Next year will likely be worse for us without Anzac day and round 1 to give us 2 easy sells.

Ever been to a Souths game? Always shit loads of families, more so than most other clubs. Souths fans are spread out all over the city with a skew towards the south and south west due to financial constraints. Absolute bullshit they live near the ground, it’s long been taken over by yuppies and millionaires

The Saturday night game in Gosford if cross promoted with a Central Coast Race meet may draw well and make the adjoining leagues club some good money! ? But that's a bit too ambitious and proactive from what I'm seeing from the NRL and its clubs at the minute.

... They don't normally open all their stands? Weird. Like I would understand not opening the top half of the Western, but not at all?
All stands are always open, including the top half of the western stand. There may, however, only be members sitting there until the eastern stand reaches a certain capacity but I'm not sure about that. There are always people sitting up there, though.

I was told that, was just asking a question. FMD

The information is pretty easy to find...
Person 1 says "Im not paying $55!!!!111"
Person 2 says "Omg i dont believe theyre charging $55!!!11" based on what person 1 says.

Maybe both of them could have actually looked it up rather than discouraging everyone else looking for an excuse to not attend games

I've been to Souths games and I lived and played footy in Maroubra for 10 years. It's all Souths fans and Roosters fans all along both sides of Anzac Parade and the beaches from Bondi to La Perouse.
And while this may surprise you, many Souths fans from western sydney even manage to hold down jobs in the city!
You're talking utter bollocks.

Gonna be a long season in this thread if people are complaining about friday night prime time footy in round 1...

I think 'family' may be more appropriate as they are all related.

“Since moving to ANZ Stadium in 2006, South Sydney have enjoyed a substantial growth in membership in western Sydney with close to 60 per cent of their members living in the inner west and greater western Sydney.”

They also take games to Cairns, Perth and Gosford, with 1500 members in Western Australia, 3000 members in Queensland and 1500 members on the Central Coast.

"Souths' traditional geographic heartland is south Sydney but it's very expensive to live there now and many of our members and fans live in western Sydney," Rabbitohs boss John Lee said.

"It's important, therefore, that we service those fans in western Sydney. That's why we play the majority of our games in western Sydney at the Olympic stadium."

So you know more than John Lee do you now? Your the one talking out of our uninformed ass

The Roosters need to understand, it's better to have 40,000 at the game paying $10, than 10,000 at the game paying $40. :(

Lets say Souths have 30,000 members
60% is 18,000 in western sydney
6000 not in sydney
Leaving up to 6000 members in south-east Sydney.

There are 17 LGAs that can be counted as western sydney and inner west. It's an enormous area.
That averages out to 1058 members per council, over a huge area, of which the inner west is reasonable close to Souths heartland territory anyway.

"Most Souths fans live in Western Sydney" is a misuse of statistics.
Comparing apples to apples, the area with the highest number of Souths fans is South-East Sydney. 6000 members in 3 LGAs - Randwick, Bayside, and City. 2000 per council.
It's also a reasonable assumption that many fans in these areas would not bother with memberships because its a pain to get to Olympic Park from here.

Ah no, most Souths fans don’t live in SE Sydney. I’ll accept your apology
