I am heading to the afl gf now and am very interested to see how this event compares to our gf.

they are actually struggling to fill the mcc reserve at the moment, which is interesting.

Have been to a few AFL Grand Finals , the pre game and entertainment crap all over the NRL in that aspect, I Just switched on to see Paul Kelly and Vikka and Linda Bull perform and also Mike Brady perform Up There Cazaly, now I switched it off as I have zero interest in the Gnats. As I have said the AFL Grand Finals I have been to the entertainment has crapped over the NRL but as for a feeling of being their in 2002, 2013 and 2018 when the Roosters won, nothing has topped that feeling.

both codes have their moments with pre game entertainment, you ever see the Meatloaf bullshit from a few years ago? I wouldn’t be blowing too much wind up the AFL’s ass mate.If you switched on earlier today, the 2 acts before Paul Kelly were absolutely shitful.

I agree about Meatloaf AFLs performance, I only switched it on to see Paul Kelly because I knew roughly what time it was going to be on, have zero interest in today's game though. Just the few AFL Grand Finals I have been to i found the actual pre game to be great, as you mentioned Meatloaf being a shocker at the AFL Grand Final, nothing will beat Billy Idol at 2002 Rugby League Grand Final for embarrassment stakes, also saw Meatloaf at the 2003 Rugby League Grand Final, voice wise he was ok then but I remember him walking around the field and he let the biggest golly fly out of his mouth near where were sitting, absolutely disgusting lol.

Living in an AFL state I'm always having banter with AFL supporters regarding the 2 sports, but the one thing that every single AFL supporter always says is that the NRL put on a much better show than the AFL pre game. Being in the day and plonking a stage out in the middle of a big oval creates no atmosphere and it mostly goes unnoticed. NRL has had a couple of dud's but as a whole the production is a lot better being at night.

Only been to one nrl gf but Loved the build up, good buzz and stuff going on in the precinct, Maclemore was loud and fast which is all you really want and the social commentary around gay marriage just made it a little bit edgy. Was a good build up all round.

Really didn’t like the SOO at Optus where Eskimo Joe played at the top of the stand, you couldn’t see them which kind of made it totally pointless!

Yep before was garbage, they might still be trying to pay for the killers in 2017.

crowd was good but it is a total corporate farce, in the section I was sitting everyone had those scarfs that were half Richmond half GWS which is hideous. NRL crowds are a lot more engaged, I feel. Maybe it was just because this crowd were 90% tigers and it was a flogging.

All in all 90% of origins and nrl grand finals I have been to were more of a spectacle.

Yeah I reckon the crowd being 90-95 % Richmond would have diluted the spectacle for a neutral, what was the crowd figures in the end ? I only saw Paul Kelly's last song and he seemed to have the crowd rocking but have a read on a few sites that the act before Paul Kelly was akin to suicide.

I only saw the Maclemore performance on the TV coverage and agree it was good and fast but also remember a lot of people on here trashing it. The one I really enjoyed was Ricky Martin and Jessica Mauboy live in 2013.

100,014.
In recent years the AFL has improved their entertainment but NRL has been much better going back 30 years. It does get lost at 1.30pm in broad daylight. Game was a shocker.
Hope tonight is as good as last night.

It's not hard for the AFL to add a couple of hundred to the official attendance to get it over the 100 k figure, just so they can all wank off over it.
Whoever believes their attendance figures, EVER, is a complete douchebag.

100,014. Another problem was it being v GWS. No real hatred there, if the tigers were pumping Collingwood the place would have fallen apart. Just like in 2008 when manly were flogging Melbourne it was wild.
