I think after tonight sad as it is Ivan Cleary needs to start preparing for next season.

This current side has too many flaws and some tough decisions need to be made.

Need to abandon the two hooker thing and pick one or the other.

If James Maloney is not going to be here next season then just bring in Luai and give him the rest of the season to see whether he is the real deal or not.

Dean Whare offers nothing and we need to find a centre with speed and other attributes.

Sadly it would appear Josh Mansour is done so I’m not sure what we do there given he is a fan favourite .

RCG chewing up too much of our salary cap given what he brings to the side. Hopefully he may feel he needs a change of environment to find his form again which would allow us to move him on.

There are clearly other issues the above are just a few of the top of my head.

Crichton isn't far off Kikau height wise. Can score full length tries too. Staines and Laurie have speed so might be better wing options for next year
Not sure if we can bring them into the top 30. Anyone know when McGrady is due back? His profile has him as a 6"6' centre - might be able to blood him on the wing like we did with Lewis all those years ago?

We lost Phillips. So have a spot for someone. Could move Too in and then put Crichton in developing player. That frees him up to play after round 16

I'd start shopping Whare around too probably need to wait to see where Edwards fits in for me he is Fullback or not at all

McGrady did ACL last year I thought so could be a month still

Option 2 for me. Gets Dallin to centre and a ball playing FB we need. Too/Aekins can fight out for the wing.

Sele in for RCG. Mansour bench for Katoa is my 17

I’m keeping the same 17 other then moving DWZ to centre, Aekins or Edwards to fullback.

Edwards is coming back from a long term injury, what we saw the first month is not a reflection of his ability. Hopefully he has a blinder in Cup.

McGrady will be next year, he’s only played QLD cup so needs fitness and confidence in his knee, Whare should be shopped to England, Edwards I’d tap on the shoulder and say thanks for coming, exit is that way, Aekins would be my 1st choice fullback, DWZ told wing only or you can move on, Mansour shopped to England, RCG shopped to England, right now I’d promote Naden to the full time squad and play him on the wing or the centres, Jed I’d let him join his dad at manly and upgrade Bloor to the full time squad, not renew Katoa and work on making Dean Bloor our backup hooker

Edwards should not be near the first grade side for atleast a month or so of good footy in reserve grade.

He might never be the same player again after injury. Many players never are. We can hope he gets back to pre-injury form. But there's certainly no guarantee he ever does.

Blake back to the left please. We changed over Maloney and Cleary so why not Blake?

I'd debut a new player in place of Whare. Matheson Johns for me.

I think we benefited from guys like Martin and Egan in the line up last night. Martin was very enthusiastic and Egan looked good until he was hooked.

Guys like Katoa/Edwards are still quite young and their confidence is very low. Whats wrong with giving them a spell in reserve grade?

I agree. We need to do a mini rebuild.

Our depth has been destroyed. Which would be fine if these guys were all in form. But they aren't.

Edwards. Mansour. Whare. RCG. Katoa and Maloney should all be moved on by seasons end. Hit the market to fill spots with guys looking for a better opportunity. Not other teams rejects. Just guys stuck waiting to break their way into established sides. Or be promoted from the bench.

I want Kikau to come off the bench. I don't care if he is on big dollars, he is an impact player and if we get the impact it is worth the money. He is just getting gassed in defense. Put another workhorse out early and bring him in when they get tired, that is when we have seen him at his best. Too many times these impact type players are elevated to the starting line up and it destroys them. Frank the Tank was an example, Doggies did it with Klemmer too.

Kikau needs a spell big 20 then take him off for a breather then bring him on again for another big 20 he played 80 mins last night cronulla sensed he was gone and ran at him and won the game.So the inexperienced john morris outcoached the so called experienced cleary.

Whare & RCG might be difficult to move on, very long contracts.

Whare is on a minimal contract, zero point moving him on only to get someone of lesser quality for the same money. The hope was/is one of the younger guys would kick on & he’d be a dependable back up.

Tbh I think some are hitting the panic button too early. We looked decent for 65 mins last night, both with & without the ball. It’s Rnd 6, hell of a long way too go & plenty of teams have won the comp from a similar position to ours this early.

Let’s panic together in 5 rounds time.
