The old top 8 system was better, where losers like Melbourne didn't get undeserved home games.
Why should the Storm not get another home game after winning 20 of their 24 regular season games, compared to Parramatta's 14? and why should they be penalised for losing to a very good Raiders side while you thrashed a really pathetic Broncos side?
There were plenty of complaints back in 2009 when the 1st placed Dragons were knocked out in straight sets by the 6th placed Broncos at Suncorp in Week 2. That was one of the reasons the Mcintyre System was scrapped. Because there was not enough advantage for the top 4. It never happened, but it was even possible for 3rd or 4th place to be eliminated in Week 1, under that crappy system.
The Eels won in spectacular style yesterday but they've played great footy on many occasions at Bankwest this season. Away from home it's a different story. It's quite reasonable that as a 6th placed team, they need to do something extraordinary to make the GF. The task is to beat the Storm at AAMI Park and then beat the Roosters at The S.C.G.
You're not going to get gifted a GF place with home games. You need to able to win both home and away to be a premiership contender.
