2 pretty garbage squads, 2 premiership winning coaches with something to prove.

Glaring weaknesses and rookies in both squads, but look for players like Marsters, DCE, Twal, Taupau to be the game breakers.
This one's a coin toss for me, Tigers in Golden point.

.

Only missing 3 of the starting 13 and the Tigers squad looks significantly worse. But hey, we won Round 1 last year with a worse side. Wests by 8.

No back line depth when Parker gets a starting gig in the centres...That back line is woeful without Tommy T and Walker...

Head, Tigs by 12, Heart Eagles by 6

Lawrence is a tough one to lose so close to the start of the season. Unlucky

Lawrence is a big one however Garner plays a very similar game to him. Unlikley he and Brooks will gel quickly though so the new combo is a worry. I’d argue Mbye is a bigger loss, as far as backup 1s go Thompson would be one of the better ones in the comp so we’re lucky there. Nofa would have made it over Fonua but who knows. Mahe can single handedly win or loss you a game.

Either way Manly outs hurt them more so certainly no excuses.

Lot of plodders in that Manly side. Des has his work cut out. Tigers not exactly household names either, most of them. This is a hard one. Manly will miss Tom Turbo, so I pick Wests.

Why didn't Des spend a little off season time in one of the Northern beaches pubs to find a replacement for Parker?

Manly might show a bit of heart now that Dessie is back to kick em up the arse.
Brett Stewart back at the club too.. Backing Manly to just get it over the tigers in this one

I’m hoping that Des can bring back that hard edge to manly.

The last couple of years I’ve found myself feeling a bit sorry for manly. I don’t like it. I want to go back to hating them for being a bunch of merkins.
