Brisbane blitzed the Gold Coast in the first half, racking up five tries to one in order to set up a comfortable 34-12 victory over a Titans side that were never in the game tonight at Cbus Super Stadium.

This. Qld have lost Origin and there is (was) a real possibility of all 3 Qld teams finishing well outside the finals. The NRL needs the viewing figures up north, and will ensure the Broncos or Cowboys are there come finals time to make it happen. I could even see an upset, provided they don't have to face the Roosters, Melbourne or Souths before the GF.
