This game is just further proof that if your team isn’t the Storm, Rabbitohs, Raiders, Roosters or Sea Eagles...you’re not going to win the premiership.

Sorry to burst any bubbles, but the rest of the comp is just making up the numbers.

MATCH REPORT - Storm 40 Broncos 4:

Storm shatter the Broncos to move closer to Minor Premiership
Sam Bourke | August 2 2019 10:32PM

Brisbane Broncos v Melbourne Storm

Melbourne have thrashed Brisbane 40-4 thanks to a Cameron Smith masterclass, leaving the Storm another step closer to securing the JJ Giltinan Shield yet again as Minor Premiers in a dominant display at Suncorp Stadium tonight.

Skipper Smith was sensational, scoring a try and having a hand in several more in a dominant display from the former Australian skipper in his 403rd NRL game. Kiwi backrower, Kenny Bromwich crossed for a double in another impressive display from the destructive edge backrower, who has now emerged out of the shadow of his older brother Jesse, as one of the key players for the men in purple.

Fairweather storm fans. Was living there in 2010, every workmate who'd been chirping for years suddenly became mute.

....did you want them to brag about the embarrassment?

Also, despite playing for nothing and receiving the wooden spoon, crowds still rocked up each week

For the love of god. I go to work five days a week in Melbourne, listen to every colleague trash talk the nrl and their team just flogs everyone. Please, any team but them.
I hate the AFL loving, NRL hating folk

There’s a core of us who love the storm and the game, and want to see Rugby League flourish. This core of group has fortunately grown.

Those who trash RL can get f**ked IMO

Very predictable result the broncos aren’t even close to the top teams this year.

Those Storm fans in 2010 who turned up every game have my full respect. I would struggled to watch my team if they had to play for f**k all for an entire season.

Was quite demoralising. At the time most of us thought we’d be f**ked for at least a decade though!

They weren't storm fans anymore. Until 2012

If the punishment for salary cap breaches was appropriate, there would have been a clean slate. Both Canterbury and Melbourne should have had all players released and started from scratch. That's a real deterrent.

2010 was the year that galvanised Victorians support of the Storm more then any other single event. They finally became Melbourne's team.

Inadvertently this was a masterstroke by the NRL, Victorians to this day consider there punishment to be overly harsh. The fact that this attitude rustles the jimmies of other NRL fans only makes it better.
