Tigers by 4. Even in a convincing loss they looked way better than Penmyth. (Props to AlwaysGreen)

We're usually terrible against Melbourne but we're usually good against the Tigers. Also the Tigers lost to the Bulldogs after being hot favourites, it was a similar story when they lost to them last year. Not that that should mean anything in 2019 with new coaches at both clubs but these trends have a habit of continuing.

This is pretty much the best side the Panthers can put on the paddock. They are playing a side they have had the better of for the past five seasons, off the back of an embarrassing defeat in front of the faithful in the central west. If we can't get this done at home and quite emphatically at that, we are in a lot of trouble.

Penrith have had a lot of success against us by playing a fairly simple game plan. They went straight, then with a bit of momentum attacked our edges with hard running forwards. The likes of Kikau, Yeo, Cartwright, JFH, CHN etc have had field days in past, in fact I’d even go back further to when Pritchard was playing for you.

Keep in mind a lot of this was happening when we had a fairly soft pack, lead by Captain Marshmellow. Last year the scoreline was 16-2, yet only 2 tries to none when the tigers had a fairly injured ravaged team missing 3/4 of its spine.

Whilst Kikau and Yeo will no doubt have strong games, they aren’t running at Kyle Lovett, Joel Edwards or Robbie Rochow anymore. Ryan Matterson should be more then a match for the big Fijian.

With Penrith struggling to score points lately I’d expect a very ‘back to basics’ game plan of tucking the ball under the arm and running and tackling as hard as you can. It worked for the Dogs last week. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Waqa and Whare swap back to their natural sides.

big hit!

tough to support any team in this match. i've been bred to greatly dislike the tigers and don't want to see them at 3-1, but at same time I deplored the way Penrith poached a contracted coach and Ivan bailed on his incumbent club and would prefer for him and the Panthers to sink deeper into the quicksand. would be much better if the tigers were playing the normal tiger way and they were currently 0-3 or 1-2.

I would love to see the Tigers win the inaugural Cleary Cup but sadly I think Panthers will win this 13+.

The Panthers have had the Tigers number for as long as I remember regardless of form.

Penrith.

Yet to really hit their stride. Seem like a squad that was under prepared (new coach) and a little injured and unsure (goodbye Peachey, please come back Kikau).
I think they'll get it together for this one, despite Josh Reynolds taking the game by the scruff of the neck and surprising a few Panthers fans. Josh loves an opportunity and will no doubt make a stamp on the game, but with the pressure on the Cleary family to take control I think in the end, thy will be done.

A good number of players had surgery DWZ after test games for NZ, Jimmy neck surgery. Nathan and Edwards has come from a long lay off.

Yeah fair point mate, kinda what i was getting with underprepared and unsure.

Hope they hit their stride. Have always been impressed with game management from Cleary and with Maloney that can only go the next level.

As much as I would love us to score 32 points, considering we have only managed five tries in 3 games this year I would find it unlikely.
