I'd like to know the "Streaming" "device" (whatever it is called) figures.

I bet shedloads are watching it there.

Everywhere I go, someone is on a device, huddled around by mates, watching the game live.

Interesting times.

Ratings figures wont be released - i doubt the codes get very specific information either from Kayo. Nut we know this

Foxtel

As of June 30, 2019, Foxtel’s total closing subscribers were 3.144 million, which was 12% higher than the prior year, primarily due to the launch of Kayo, subscriber growth at Foxtel Now and the inclusion of commercial subscribers of Fox Sports Australia beginning in the first quarter of fiscal 2019, partially offset by lower broadcast subscribers.

Approximately 2.4 million of the total closing subscribers were broadcast and commercial subscribers, and the remainder consisted of Foxtel Now and Kayo subscribers. Following its launch in November 2018, Kayo grew over 8 months to reach 382,000 subscribers, of which around 331,000 were paying subscribers as of June 30, 2019.

Foxtel Now totalled 460,000 subscribers as of June 30, 2019, of which approximately 446,000 were paying subscribers, up 32% compared to the prior year.

Someone in the comments section makes a good point. It's because QLD viewers are switching off cos they're having bad seasons. Danny is being sensationalist, it has nothing to do with judiciary decisions or whatever.

Figures are pretty close to what I have. down 3.4 million on same time last year.

Ok so on numbers ~3m fewer, he is on target. But he's quoting it at -13% lower overall, however it is only 4-5% overall, correct?

World Cup and Ashes no doubt have impacted. But Ch9 commentary has to be looked at too. Horrible to listen to.

Wieder is about as reliable as Sydney vanishing in an earthquake tomorrow he writes to instructions of whichever manager, bookie ect has his ear
At the moment the 9 network is trying to work out a way to dud RL Weidler is just obeying orders no wonder viewers are down given the way 9 treats them
Foxtel is a much better team & quality to watch than 9 they are still living embodiment of Controversy Corner with Rex Mossop in the 70s

Is the Ch 9 commentary really any worse than fox though? I think a lot of fans just prefer the Fox presentation to Ch 9. No cross promotion of The Block or garbage like that. But remember these guys are on fox:
Blocker
Anasta
Hodges
Walters
Gasnier
Parker
Raymond

That is probably part of it, but it is not one thing.
Other factors include:
1. the same teams being at the top again and again and again.
2. the way these coaches want the game to be played is pretty boring to watch on TV (like stale bread)

Most NRL games are still entertaining to watch. But I will add that the video referee is not a fan friendly feature. Watching the game live at Newcastle on Saturday afternoon convinced me that fans cannot stand the video referee intrusions. I'm also critical of the video referee referals during the tv games I watch. The video ref is an issue and needs to be minimized as much as possible. It's detracting from the flow and spontaneous enjoyment of the game by fans and players.
