Mounties 18 Asquith 14
St Marys 50 Cabra 14

Mounties were looking dominant at 18-0 but Asquith made a game of it with a strong final quarter. Their first try came from a cross field kick but this was nothing special when compared with their last try when the final play in the set saw a cross field kick regathered and followed with a kick back to the opposite corner and Curtis Johnston flew above the Mounties defender and offloaded to Remfry. It is a pity that the NSWRL ceased providing highlights of these games after 1 round of last season.

4 of the players that played SS against Belrose last week were in RMC today while another played NSW Cup yesterday.

As expected St Marys gave Cabra a towelling. Unfortunately Cabra brought the start times forward 2 hours so it was not possible to watch both RMC games.

SS

Cabra 24 St Marys 22

Cabra led 24-6 10 minutes into the 2nd half but it looks like St Marys stormed home.
Yep St Marys came home strong in thr SS. To many errors in thr first half from St Marys meant cabra had about 70% of the ball in the first half. When St Marys cut out the errors and played more direct they were all over cabra

Glebe Burwood 30 Brothers 10
Blacktown 28 Hills 20

The battle to avoid the bottom 3 positions intensified this week with the bottom 3 all winning - Wests and Glebe Burwood each secured their 2nd win and after failing to get within 20 of their opposition for the first 5 games, Blacktown produced its maiden victory.

Hills scored early and then Blacktown took advantage of some brittle tryline defence to cross 3 times for an 18-6 lead. Hills then got some more possession and put on 3 tries to lead 20-18 at half time. The teams cancelled each other out for a large part of the second half both sides being guilty of poor ball security, until Leva Li made a huge split and offloaded to Cryer for 24-20. Blacktown held firm against some unimaginative plays and then Fou Tagilima scored in the final seconds.

GB, Wests, Cabra, Guildford, Hills and Brothers all sit on 2 wins while at the pointy end Mounties and St Marys sit on 5 wins and Wenty has 4 from 5.

SS

Moorebank 40 Hills 18
Brothers 30 Sydney Uni 30
Ryde Eastwood 38 Asquith 12

Moorebank had its first win for 2019 and Ryde Eastwood continues its improved results.

Any predictions for this weekend???
The top 3 teams in Massey have a chance to create quite a buffer between themselves and the rest of the comp. If all 3 win they will be 4 points clear of the next team. Asquith will be desperate to stay in touch with top 4 by knocking off Wenty at home.

Mounties wont get any points this weekend - their game against Cabra has been deferred for 6 weeks.

Why have they deferred the game?

Something to do with Cabra's 100 years celebrations.

So Mounties will have no game this week, then all the teams have the week off in 2 weeks time and then Mounties has a bye the next week. I reckon Emu Plains will get plenty of Mounties players over the next month.

There are a lot of byes in the Women's comp and the rumour is that Mounties internationals will play for Emu Plains.

St Marys 48 Hills 4

St Marys appear unstoppable at the moment. The debut of Craig Garvey takes the Hills tally of ex first graders in their 2019 campaign to 6 but they continue to struggle with 2 wins from 7 starts. It was reported earlier this year that Garvey had signed with the Roosters but he was playing with La Perouse 3 weeks ago.

SS

St Marys 44 Hills 16

St Marys were able to include the experience of Chris Aunese Scanlon, who capitalised with 4 tries, Shanan Wood and Daniel Penese.

Did Souths sign Garvey? If so that would make sense as Hills feed into Souths.

Blake Sutton, who scored 3 tries for Wenty in SS round 1 vs Cabra, is now playing for Oakdale Workers and there have been a number of losses to Rugby Union.

Netane Masima has been absent from the no 6 spot for Hills for several weeks as he has moved to Western Sydney Two Blues (aka Parramatta) as fly half off in first grade, where he feeds centres Paul Simona and John Folau. Amanaki Veamatahau is playing 2nd Grade for the Two Blue's.

Asher Veamatahau is playing for West Harbour Pirates 2nd grade and Shane Kiel is in the Pirates 3rd grade.

John Folau is in the Waratahs squad so he would be full time. Masima has played both codes for several years, he had a late start with Guildford last year because he was playing RU with Tonga U/20 earlier in the season. Looks like Simona and Kiel decided they were unwanted in RL after their treatment by Cabra. No idea about the twins but after playing together at Parra/Guildford, Blacktown Workers and Asquith, this may be the first time they have played against each other.

The guys that are not in 1st grade would not be paid.

Houma is no longer with Cabramatta as he was told he was going to play shield. If he had stayed at Newtown he would still be playing in the Canterbury Cup

Malakai Houma listed on the bench for Cabra RMC this week. The way Cabra have been going they could really use this guy. He played 16 games in NSW Cup last year including the GF. Sam Gorman is also listed to play his first game for 2019. He also has plenty of NSW Cup experience. If Cabra cant beat Wests they could be looking at a very challenging season.

To be fair I heard they were not turning up to every training session and therefore dropped to SS.
Their ego's took a hit and they had hissy fits and left.

Compare that to another player who was given the choice to play SS or rest due to points and played SS and got man of the match.

some players don't handle reality checks

Looks like Moses Manu will face the same situation again this week. Whats happening with Nathan Milone - is he injured or is he resting every week because of the points situation?
