Feel like it's more with how fast and physical the game has become, and how structured NRL defences are. Coaches aren't too keen taking aboard small creative types. A midget like Allan Langer would've been stopped in his tracks in reserve grade

All coaches want now is some guy to run to a very specific point up to the defensive line, pivot, pass to a guy running a line he can't stray a centimetre from

The game is the way it is because there is so much interchange and game stoppage that attrition is no longer a factor.

I think the Rubicon has been crossed for smaller players. Cut the interchange down to zero and Payne Hass is still playing 80 minutes. Outside backs are gigantic and they play 80 minutes easily
