The virus was discovered in like 2013, there was no reason to not expect it would jump at some point because other variations already had jumped to humans.

I think rather than trying to deflect where it more than likely came from (whenever it officially jumped) we should be trying to shutdown the places where these come from or at least monitor them much more.

The question is (especially after the first SARS outbreak) why wouldn't they have began working on a vaccine "just in case" when it was discovered?

Ultimately there will be finger pointing till the end of time but the real issue is that it was known and nothing was done by anyone!
