So no games in Adelaide besides origin? or are Roosters playing at Adelaide and Perth?

if not, why is it a thing that the year a city gets origin the NRL clubs pull out (Perth this year)..

The Roosters agreement to play games in Adelaide was for 3 years and this year was the 3rd year so it has ended, from 2020 they have a 3 year deal to take a game to Perth.

Becise the nrl has nothing to do with these games And clubs are only interested if state Govt stump up big cash incentives. Govt paying out for origin so no money for club games. Just another reflection of the total lack of growth strategy of the nrl.

I'm sure the answer is around these here forums somewhere, but can anyone explain why a decision was made to start the Olympic Stadium work at the same time as the new Footy Stadiumaat Moore Park is still not ready?? I would've thought rather than take 2 high profile league grounds out of commission at the same time, finish the new SFS and have it ready and able to host regular comp games and most importantly a GF, and then start the work on the Homebush stadium. Love the SCG as a cricket ground, but hosting a GF there should have been avoided IMO

SCG grand final. Cue the nostalgia and heritage. Will have to have the two Sydney teams with the longest history in that one. So surely it will be

Parramatta eels since 1947

Vs

Cronulla Sutherland sharks since 1967(if you count super league)

Or

Penrith Panthers since 1967

Regarding the SCG grand final, will there be temporary seating installed? 48000 is a huge drop in available seats, it has space for drop in seats but even then I can't see it getting more than about 50,000 with drop ins.

There’s no way to drop in seats at the SCG as the front row is at ground level. Any row bumped in would obstruct the seats behind it.

Where would you drop seats in?

I think initially the SFS was to be redeveloped first then ANZ.

But those plans weren't drastic plans like a knock them down rebuild it into a boutique stadium. I read somewhere that SFS wasn't going to get much a change but ANZ would be the biggest change.

Certain plans went out the window and then it was agreed both need to be knocked down rebuilt.

I'm guessing they thought SFS wouldn't take as long as they thought.

I know what you're saying in a perfect world it would make sense to wait till SFS is finished and ANZ would be next but unfortunately Sydney is going to be left with SCG, which has a significance for Rugby League but these days its horrible for viewing.

Hopefully it'll all be sweet by 2023

With so many clubs not having their home ground for the next few years, I can’t believe no one is taking a game (v Storm) to Hobart or Geelong. Geelong stadium is really narrow and would be great for RL. North Hobart also suitable.

Geelong is one I’ve always wondered about. Seems like it’d go ok.

The issue with North Hobart is lights. The only ground in Hobart with broadcast quality lights (and decent corporate facilities) is Bellerive Oval, but the playing field is the size of the MCG. You’d have to have the pitch off-centre at the ground away from the hill in front of the Ricky Ponting Stand (which was built for AFL mainly) and only sell tickets on the broadcast side, which would look shocking on TV. Otherwise it’d be a worse viewing experience than the SCG.

Melbourne to play at home when the fumblers aren't playing, rounds 1, 2 & 25.

Cowboys away for the first month to beat the heat and cyclones
