2020 NRL draw

I think the concerns around proper pre-season trials and WCC are what's prevented it.

All 16 clubs are facing long-haul flights back east which essentially knock out a full day off recovery for their next matches. If they're playing well into Sunday, that flight is as late as Monday morning and they then only have Tue-Fri as recovery and training opportunities heading into Saturday trial matches on Feb 22.

I imagine it's the same reason the WC9's were Fri/Sat last week given seven of the teams involved (AUS & NZ Women, AUS, NZ, France, Tonga and England) are playing this Fri/Sat

Play it the weekend before then. The NRL continue finding ways to stuff things up. They're aussies, they can handle the heat

i hope the leaks are correct for the rd1 dates......I’ve booked accomodation in TVL for a friday night 13th March game before the rush hits and prices sky rocket. Still not prepared to pull the trigger on flights just yet though.....
Where can I find these leaks?

'Host it a weekend earlier' isn't the answer. It's scheduled for one week before trials start in full, a week before All Stars. the idea is to build interest - not hold it then have a weekend of little/no action

The low drawing game I can understand, first round should get a big crowd anyway.
The time slot is the problem for me.
That’s 5pm in QUEENSLAND, most people are just finishing work or commuting home at that time

"Need to have the Friday off basically"?

If you're travelling from the Eastern states you're taking Friday off already anyway. If it was Sat-Sun, you'd still need Friday arvo/evening to travel.

And I still don't understand why people don't get that they're doing it for the benefit of the teams, and for TV ratings - the teams have more time to return home and recover ahead of Trials, All Stars & likely WCC the following weekend. And obviously Fri & Sat rate better than Sundays

I’m surprised WA govt agreed given they are paying for it in hope of attracting tourists
