Beaten 3 of last years preliminary finalists already and a decent draw ahead. I’m not getting ahead of myself but I definitely wasn’t expecting these solid and mature performances from a young Panthers team. We never really showed this kind of form under Griffin even when we were winning. It was usually comeback wins, not grinding wins.
We have a well needed 9 day rest. Plenty of time to recompose ourselves. Just learned that Cleary was in hospital for two days with that infection. Up to yesterday, his eyes were pretty swollen.

Bloody good effort to get on the field and play like he did.

The Souths coach Bennet was asked how did he think Nathan Cleary went. His answer was "I wasn't watching Nathan Cleary". He went on to say he is a good player....then an awkward silence as if Bennet dropped an egg fart, and one and all smelt it. Then he f**ked off.

Ah Vic, I’ve never met someone so rattled by players being talked up. Ivan’s got us in the top four and Nath is owning the team, that Cleary combo is killing it for us.

congrats mate

he’s got you back to where you were before he took over

Cleary was outstanding last night.

He's far from a creative genius, and he'll never be Thurston, but that's ok because he does a lot of things very well.

He plays direct and takes the line on, he has a nice long pass out wide, and an excellent long & short kicking game. Cleary also seems to excel under pressure, unlike his peers in Moses & Pearce.

He's also an excellent in line defender and cover tackler. Not to mention a great goal kicker.

Again, he won't ever be a creative genius but he's still a very accomplished player.

I feel this is necessary to point out because Cleary appears to be NSW fans new favourite punching bag. And NSW fans love nothing more than to mercilessly attack their own even when it's uncalled for.

+1 for Cleary. Has been overrated for a long time but he has developed this year. He is trying his hand more often and that is not something he is known for doing. Lots of attacking decisions with his short kicking game. And while it was 11/12 on 13 (14 if you include our trainer at the death) the cut-out ball to the left is something fans have seldom seen from Cleary. He isn't as predictable as he has been in the past. That along with a decent 9 in Korisau is making Penrith a capable team in 2020.

His composure, defence and goal kicking make him a very solid player. And his combination with Keary, Cook and Tedesco will make NSW clear favourites in the Origin series at the end of the year.

He provides a steadiness to us that really allows others in the team to play well and create points. He gets us where we need to be and sends the ball where it should go most of the time. The improvement after the two games he missed was instant, we just Look much more confident and in control with the ball when Nath is there and I can’t speak highly enough of his defence and kicking game, he has worked very hard in those areas. There were signs of it late last year when Jimmy missed some games and Nath really stepped up and owned the side.

The addition of Api has helped him immensely, he has never played with a top notch hooker like Api.

He's effective, not an individual matchwinner. Right on the pressure front- that's been the achilles heel of some more creative or fancied halves. Cleary seems to deliver the same steady output at every level.
