If GC wanting Amone is true, Souths need to decide what's more important, attempting to win in 2020 or winning in 2021 and beyond.

For 2020, Arrow in for Amone is a no brainer imo. I do like the look of Amone but he's still unproven at 23 and most likely to be a bench option. Arrow at 24 however will not only start but play big minutes. The risk lays with GC.

If winning beyond 2021 is the priority then keep Amone knowing Arrow is already joining in 2021.
I think Souths have just extended Amone, if that's true I can't see him being released.

Yeah pretty reliable. I’ve read that we laughed at them when they suggested Amone. I don’t really want to lose him I think he can easily be as good as Tatola and Knight for us.
I laughed too as it just won’t happen, this will be Amone’s breakout year.

I get what you’re getting at but talk is we have just extended Amone apparently but it hasn’t been announced yet.

Article basically says tigers aren’t interested in Doueihi but do have a 1 million dollar war chest at their disposal

Now that our recruitment drive is over. Our next focus should shift over to retention. Look at this bloody off contract 2021 list.

Players off contract at the end of 2021.

Mitchell
Graham
Gebbie
Allan
Reynolds
Hawkins
Dargan
Murray
Tatola
Nicholls

There’s going to need to be some hard decisions made by management. Bennett also is off contract at the end of 2021 as well.

I think it would be foolish to trade Amone to get Arrow for 2020. Yes, I want Arrow here for this year so fricken bad but I see Amone as a rising star and I don't think we should trade him. If this is what it comes down to, just wait a year and have them both in the squad!
With Amone and Tats in the front row in a couple years time there won't be too many that want to run through our forwards imo.

Something fishy going on re fafita,
There must be a reason he has not signed yet, though he dosent need to rush until end of this season, could it be to let the bali incident fade away so he isnt obligated to sign with the broncos?
Mark my words, rorters didnt let mitchell go for nothing, aubuson will be in his last season, i bet they make a 1.5m bid to get him

Im told they have made AJ a good offer he has till friday to reply
He’d be mad not to take it imo, that is unless he’s happy to stay on the wing with us have a good season and hope that’s enough for us to renew him. With our current backline though he’s not guaranteed a spot in our back 5 imo if everyone is fit.

I’m still confident we will get Arrow bro and not have to release a forward. @Mascot Spy has a very high rate of getting it right and says Arrow will be here soon for 2020 so that’s good enough for me.

If Easts are to chase him I reckon they’ll offer 800k, 50k more than what Brisbane offered.

Yes he is signed for this year thats why im saying he is in no rush to commit longer, this bali thing will be forgotten half way through this season and his obligation to the broncos will vanish, i honestly dont think he will stay there for 800k when he can get 400k more elsewhere

He may well have left the club for the big bucks this year but after the help escaping Bali he owes the Broncos at least one good year.

Bennett tells South Sydney young gun he's free to look elsewhere

By Christian Nicolussi Sydney Morning Herald
January 15, 2020 — 7.06pm

Adam Doueihi is weighing up his immediate future after South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett told him he is free to chase a starting fullback position elsewhere after making it clear Latrell Mitchell will get first crack at the club's No.1 jersey.
Bennett admires Doueihi and is happy for him to see out the remaining two years of his deal, but also informed him on Wednesday he would not block any early release from Redfern.

Only two days earlier Bennett said he faced some "hard decisions" about how to squeeze the likes of Doueuhi into a back line that now features Mitchell, Campbell Graham, Braidon Burns, Dane Gagai and James Roberts.

Doueihi was given his NRL debut by Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire and is a Balmain junior. The Tigers also need a starting fullback and have well north of $600,000 still in their salary cap for this season, but have so far baulked at Doueihi's price tag, given his current deal is heavily back-ended.

The Herald understands Doueihi stands to collect about $500,000 this year and even more in 2021. Souths do not have to move on any players to be salary cap compliant and it remains to be seen if they will pick up any of Doueihi's tab should he leave.

Tigers boss Justin Pascoe told the Herald on Tuesday: "Having cap space at this time of year allows us the opportunity to be strategic and leverage off other clubs who might have challenges with their ca space."

Bennett took one look at Mitchell train on Tuesday and was clearly convinced his star recruit would more than make the successful transition to fullback in just eight weeks.

Doueihi was initially told by Bennett he would be playing five-eighth, only for Cody Walker to sign a two-year extension in December. He was then informed by the supercoach he would be the starting fullback, only for Souths to the sign Mitchell.

"Some of the boys here have played some great football for us, but the end result is we couldn't walk past the opportunity to take Latrell," Bennett said on Monday. "This club is about success. We want to have the best team we possibly can here and we believe he [Mitchell] is going to add to what we already have."

Doueihi's best hope is securing a utility role off the bench, which he could easily do given his ability to play anywhere in the back line. A tall playmaker who impressed at fullback towards the end of last season, Doueihi would even start a few games during the Origin period with Dane Gagai a Queensland regular and Cody Walker and Mitchell a chance to earn a NSW Blues recall.

Such is the depth in the outside backs at Souths that it was easy to forget Bryson Goodwin had also returned to the club on a one-year deal.

Before he made his NRL debut under Maguire at Souths in 2018, Doueihi spoke glowingly about the coach and said: "Madge was pretty keen on me and he was probably the main reason why I did come here."

The Tigers have three spots to fill on their roster, including two before the start of the season. They remain hopeful Parramatta will release teen prop Stefano Utoikamanu, who they have already signed from 2021.

Souths continue to hold out hope they can land their own front-rower, Jai Arrow, a year early from the Gold Coast. Should they land Arrow, the foundation club will be among the favourits to take the NRL title.

Spot the errors...
I'll give you all a hint...
Madge was sacked at the end of 2017
I’m still worried he will go, he’s gonna be a future representative player I reckon, he’s only gonna get better.

If we let him go and we get an injury at fullback, five eighth or halfback we are stuffed.

Any injury to a centre as well and he’s next in.

He would get the 14 as well if there isn’t a place for him, but quite a number of injuries will happen over the season.
